Wishlist:

- Transwave/Single Cycle/Wavetable/Granular options and not just straight sample playback
- Oscillator and Sample interaction, FM, AM, Sync.
- Parameter Locks/Control Sequencer
- Custom Sample Uploading, Not being tied to some other person’s library

Could be one synth to rule them all.

Here for the gear
Damn. I just bought a Prophet12 yesterday after years of lusting after one. Don’t have it yet, just shipped out so i’ll get it next week. So far, I feel relieved that this appears to be a whole different beast.

I have the original Emulator and Emax factory libraries as soundfonts, if we can import our own samples I’d bung them in there in a jiffy.

I wonder how much storage, it’ll have to be at least 1GB, I’d imagine.

Woah, going deeper than I thought. Another collaboration. Should be a solid gig horse.

If there's analog it's going to cost a lot thought.

It’s likely that just enough will be left out from this one so as to not make the 12 obsolete. I’m guessing the oscillator interaction and feedback will be gone in this.

I'm afraid it's not a sampler.

The 8Dio involvement points to rompler/synth engine mix.^^

I would not worry. I always wanted a PPG and in the mid 80s I rather went for a sampler. It never got me there where I wanted to go and nothing really replaces a wavetable synth.

Also, with 16 voices I would assume that the CEM from the REV2 or Prophet-12 will be used.

Anyone want to buy a “vintage” 16 voice DSI Prophet Rev2? /endjoke

A part of me really hoped to see a merging of OB6 and P6 into some sort of super flagship, but this will work in the interim. Can’t wait for more details.

I think its good to wait a year. I just bought a rev2 last week. Its a good test of patience, saves some $$, and the firmware kinks get worked out. Ah who am I kidding where is the pre-order button.

I’m hoping it’s not just a ROMpler. That’d really put me off. I’m hoping that you can create your own multisamples and even cross modulate them within the engine.

Wow. Absolutely wonderful looking instrument...
I swear I'm really happy with my Rev 2 and I don't need another synth. Look at that Filter Drive knob tho

HOLYSH!TSNACKS. This thing is going to be amazing. Now that's what a teaser demo should sound like. Take note, Waldorf. For a second I heard that piano and was lulled into a "oh crap, boring ROMpler from Dave?" mindset, and then BAZINGA!

Also interested why the use of the Sequential name. Perhaps these are going to be prophet-6 oscillators after all.
Yamaha gave Dave his name back, so I suspect we'll see it on everything New from him. I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually phases out the Dave Smith Instruments name. It's a mouthful and usually gets turned into DSI anyway.

My first impression was a hybrid rompler/analogue synth.

I'd say the panel wouldn't allow for too much in the way of complex editing but Dave Smith knows how to build his synths.

Looks interesting though and I'm sure it'll be a great instrument.

edit- Maybe it's wavetable.

Right, Dave could use prophet name since yamaha give it back to him

I know Dave only use prophet to his flaship , so we could have the better world, vco and super filter !

Can you imagine if this was like the Dave Smith ASR-10? Unfortunately it will probably only have two timbres.

Meaning this is more for the Nord Stage market.

Maybe it's a knobby ROMpler/VA with no analogue filters.

I reckon could be around the $2000 / $2500 mark, looks like it's using the P12 / Rev 2 chassis, lower profile so I would expect the voices to be on a single board (rather than individual boards like in the P6 and OB 6) which may keep costs down. But I guess it will depend on features, technologies and how DSI postion this. Maybe more like the Rev 2 pricing (wishful thinking). We shall see, plastic waiting and ready to go....oh I think I should perhaps hear it first!
