You'd hope that Waldorf's engineers know how to use Google and have found the user mods that fix skippy encoders on the Blofeld.

(If you're reading this, chaps, a couple of 470pF caps per encoder does the job; super cheap as SMT parts.)
Yes, that can fix the skipping, but I've had ones with dead spots and loose shafts. If companies used ones that were as sturdy as the ones that Akai used to put on their old samplers they'd never have any trouble. They probably cost 5 times more though.

Just look at the SonicState sneak peak clip to see the true colours, it's much less uhm.. stale effluent colour there

I quite like the design.
If it sells for less than a Ti2 desktop I am saving up for one.

I dig the new look ,and it'll probably be the second best experience to get intimate with medical equipment .

did you try? Or just assumption? Doesn't look like a problem to me.
There is a nice German word: Grobmotoriker. If somebody suffers from that I cannot help it.

Will people subconsciously associate 'clinical' with it, because it looks clinical? I wonder if the placebo effect will make it sound sterile to anyone. I've seen people call instruments toys based on presentation, for the most part.

On the other hand, this style could be a real boon for medical professionals who want to bring a synth to work! I bet you could get away with something called a Metric Halo too...

I'm doubtful anyone called the MPC60, S950, or MPC1000 'clinical' due to their appearance.

It looks like this is the official color.. Anyone know if its rack-mountable ?
I don't like the knobs they look uncomfortable & I don't understand the little bit of blue on the left.
Hopefully they will offer a different color or special edition.

If you remember the trend of beige computers in the early 90's, maybe you can see this as retro.
Being this is a German company and all, could be this is the explanation:

Not yet, I am trying to find out. I'm worried they've done a Peak. In general I love white synths, though
@WaldorfMusic care to put our minds at ease?

If it's not rack-mountable its going to be a problem for me...

That's great. Hopefully we will have more info, and videos about it soon.

The Kyra is one of the HW-Synths I'm really interested in adding to my current setup. I have a Virus TI2 Desktop, but don't mind having a Kyra as well

On a more forgiving note, my reaction was “looks inspired by Akai”. I think it looks beautiful.

Just spent 20 min trying to get a sound out of it - neither I, not 2 other guys or the Korg rep could even figure out how to browse the presets. It was... surreal.

I will go back later and see if there was something wrong with the unit, cuz that was not a good start to say the least.

What did the Korg guy say? Is it just a prototype? Is it already in production?

Can someone please ask them if it has a rack-mount option?

Thanks.

No one I talked to knew anything at all, the unit was unattended - will go back in afternoon when they hopefully will have fixed the setup and maybe have someone there to answer questions.
