Any recommendations on the best "general" panning position? I assume it would be to just spread the voices over the stereo field evenly?
Hi,tsentsak

It's finally delivered to you. Congratulations.

If you want a rich and three-dimensional sound image, you can shift it slightly from the center to the left and right. Since there are 6 knobs, shift them slightly left and right alternately.

Complete panning to the left 3 and right 3 is perfect for creating a polyrhythmic look.

I often use it by expanding it by about 3/2.

When I added an externally extended controller, I moved the knob in real time to freely move the sound left or right.

Pete66 suggested to pan to the left and right closer to the center.

Pete66 also suggested exploring the sound image without effects.

Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I absolutely love this mod! It's volume output increase blew me away!

Question: Since pan mod installation, I've noticed I can faintly hear hanging notes in the background. They are very faint, but noticeable when I crank the volume when not playing. Anyone else experience this issue or know if what might be causing it? I can live with it, but I wonder if something wasn't installed correctly.

Hi,tsentsak

I have uploaded new preset syx file.
simple new preset 00-99

I created 100 simple sound preset files.
First, back up your current preset.
After that,Send this preset to your Prophet 600 gligli mod.
please try it.

Try this preset file to see if the same issue occurs.

I think you can find a solution.

What OS version are you using?

You can output a sound from the original jacks instead of the stereo jacks of the PAN MOD for comparative confirmation.

This isn't a solution to the problem, but it's a very good deal of benefit from adding panorama mod.....

As a feature of the output, when Panorama Mod is added, it becomes possible to use two stereo terminals at the same time as the original terminal, so it exhibits extremely excellent performance. The output from the original jack is placed in the center, and the amount of pan divided by each knob of Panorama allows you to obtain a sound with a core and a wider spread.

Hi,

I want to instantly change the panorama output from the main unit to monaural!

Make it easy.

stereo to monaural and monaural to stereo

You can easily change panorama to monaural, or change from monaural to panorama.

It's very easy to use.

You can easily experiment by using a 50k variable resistor and two cables with clips at both ends.

It seems that switching from monaural to stereo sounds smoothly.

Hi,Pete66

I have a question.

Is it better to use a thicker line from PL12 to the output of the Panorama board?

Thank you for your wonderful technical skills.

Hello Jpro600k,

A thicker line may not be needed.
Let's just try to keep cable length as long as necessary and as short as possible.

Kind regards,

Thank you.
The shorter one is better, isn't it?
it's one of the pleasures to try.

Got my P600 back from my tech yesterday after he did work on the power supply and installed this mod. It’s amazing. It really dramatically changes the output in a very good way. I recommend it highly to all P600 owners. I noticed he has one for the Polysix so now I’m likely to get that as well now that it’s clear what a difference it makes.

Hi,Pete66

By actually shortening the cable 14inches to 7inches, which is half the length, I got a big improvement in sound.

It is Amazing!

Hi,pounce

His ideas and techniques play really great music.
Chek thi s thread.
KORG Polysix Panorama Mod

I think it would be great to incorporate modypoly together.
Is it already installed?

Thank you Jpro600k,

Please find attached a description of the Prophet-5 Rev 3.3 panorama modification.
It's using the Korg Polysix panorama upgrade kit from "Das Musikding" as hardware basis.

Hi,Pete66

It also sounds like a new instrument. However, it reflects the goodness of the original sound, and I feel that it is a wonderful sound. Not being a simple panning leads to a good feel. It would be nice to be able to output the original sound to the center in addition to the panoramic sound from the panorama board. If you can mix them and throw them away, it will surely be a more attractive kit.

By the way, the Prophet 600 panorama board has more parts, but it is very strange that this P5 version looks so simple.
Is it possible to use the polysix panorama mod in a perverted way like installing it on the Prophet 600, just as it does on the Prophet 600?

Thank you.

Hello Jpro600k,

Thank you very much, Iβ€˜m happy you like it!

The original mono output signal of the Prophet-5 can be used in addition to the stereo signal. Both signals can be mixed in an external mixer, as you describe.
It would be also possible to merge/mix both signals mono and stereo in the pan mod circuitry so that mono *always* sits in the panorama center. For the sake of flexibility I however decided to keep this as an option and to use an external mixer instead.

Regarding the Prophet-600 pan-mod design : Here I needed to spend a bit higher effort, for the following reasons:
- all CEM3372 filter-outputs lead exclusively to the pan mod for further processing
- the pan-mod therefore needs to also fully support auto-tune
- during auto-tune, audio output needs to be muted
- stereo output volume can be controlled by the VOLUME pot.

In fact, the simplified Korg Polysix mod might be applicable as well but with some disadvantages:

- audible, annoying test signals (VCOs, VCFs) during autotune (no auto-mute!)
- fix stereo output level; stereo volume not controllable by VOLUME knob

For the Prophet-600 panorama-mod I thought itβ€˜s worth it to spend some additional effort for a higher user comfort.

Kind regards,
Pete66

Hi,Pete66

Thank you for your detailed explanation.
It turns out that the panorama mod for Prophet600 is designed with many ingenuity, I'm grateful.

Hello Jpro600k,

Wow, this is really fat and heavy sound.

The Prophet-600 is a quite versatile instrument.
It allows to leave the β€žsweet spotβ€œ and generate more extreme and experimental sounds.
For the same reason I like the Jupiter-6.
Funnily both instruments are from the same era.

Kind regards,
