Forum Members’ Specialties

Some people here are really very good at one specific thing (if not more than one).

Why not flag people who you've noticed .

I'll start:

@Zaphod Betamax; Korg Monotribe Wizard.

[edit: My specialty is correct apostrophe usage. That's why I'm quite embarrassed about the way I messed up the apostrophe in the thread title. Mods, could you please move my apostrophe so that the title is "Forum Members' Specialties." Thank you.

I had Zaphod B down as 'Head of Special Ops at Blofeld Inc.' but perhaps he has multitasking capabilities?

For FM synthesis, Yamaha DX, unheralded digital synths from yesteryear, technical know-how, and cool demos with a lot of that old gear, I believe Acreil deserves the prize for that department.

@ xanderbeanz For his knowledge of the not-so-beloved synths of yesteryear, and for his questionable outfits.

Quite possibly the most knowledgeable tb303 master.
@ Yoozer Incredibly helpful and patient. Explains things very well, never condescending and very detailed patch breakdowns that make sense.

@ Mr. Varaldo : all things Italo Disco.
@ seancostello : all things reverb.
@ clusterchord : ins and outs* of vintage analog gear (all of it, I think).
@ fiddlesticks : videos that match music perfectly.

@ vyedmic : urgent and on-point questions about what, exactly, to do after two oscillators have been detuned.

* I speak metaphorically, of course; but I'm sure he knows a lot about I/O, too.

I giggle every single time somebody brings it up, and more so if somebody responds "Than what?". What's so impressive is that great memes have come and all gone not just on GearSlutz, but on the whole of the internet, but detuning oscillators has managed to stay relevant through the whole course of its history.

@ 24dB - For having the perfect combination of neatness, aesthetics, and workflow in his studio. Seriously dude... WOW.

@ wagoo - For having the coolest dog ever.

@ chrisso - I'm having trouble figuring out how to word this one. There are a lot of folks in the modular subforum whose opinions I trust: slaughtr, void, subdo, fiddle, etc. But when Chrisso shares an opinion on anything, his is one where I'll take special note. Not only do his opinions on modules mirror mine often, his experience on the subject is vast. It's not just that we share the same ideas on modules, but he's got a lot of great knowledge on modular gear in general. Also, for being one of the more famous posters, he's super humble and down to earth, even when I am picking on him about his love of punching people in the kidneys.

This is a nice thread, I don't want anyone to feel left out though! Hope noone feels bad because they weren't mentioned?

Anyway I agree with all of the above.

Some personal mentions:
Derp.
Also really liking bob Rock for lack of pretentiousness and very cool attitude. Great music too, seriously good stuff from the heart.

Thebrightside: My fav and only Aussie buddy. Seriously meticulous and brilliant at everything he does. Modest and funny as hell.

Mushy: For celebrating the joy of toys with me

Plaid emu: so many lolz and mad cooking skills.

And about ten or so others who make this place awesomeness.
