It'll be interesting to see how the synthesis has been implemented into that interface.

Looks interesting but wtf is with all these desktop modules? Desktop space is extremely limited in a home studio. I still don’t get why rack unit synths are dead. Makes no sense to me. If this was rack, I’d buy it.

Nevermind. Not for me. Same lack of song mode/no saving chains as Digitakt. From p. 38 of the manual:

"Please note that the chain will be lost when you create a new chain or when you select a new bank/pattern. Also, chains cannot be saved and are lost when you switch the Digitone off."

A synth with MIDI sequencing by Elektron? What is this sorcery? I might need to check this out.

Tough luck for those waiting for Digitakt bugfixes though.. I bet this box is the reason DT fixes and OB are late.

I think it is rather expensive for FM synth with so few knobs, few voices, and lack of keyboard.

DAMN! I was genuinely ready to bite the $760 bullet, and the website now says it's already sold out

Bullet dodged. I should really be more patient. But, man, they had me.

I have a Cirklon arriving soon, and I wonder: do these Elektron boxes respond well to external MIDI?
If they don't have a song mode hopefully I can sequence them with a sequencer that does have one.

I think it's worth pointing out that this is a kind of hybrid FM-subtractive synth engine, with the usual Elektron bleep-ton of automation.

This is already the Synthwave machine, clearly. Knobby FM synths are a rarity, I think this was a good move on Elektron's part.

Sorry, but synthwave is all about analog IMO.

That demo song did sound something like an old Amiga 500 game however and that is not a bad thing.

I haven’t kept up with this, are the bugs bad?

Got off the Elektron train after the A4 and they started releasing something new every year.

I think the hundreds or more synthwave artists making this music 100% ITB (can you honestly tell me there are NONE?) would disagree. 80s vibe means FM / digital synths just as much as analogue.

On a broader note, I'm hopefully not the only one that is pleased to see Elektron returning to digital synthesis again. But I do wonder if this is a stepping stone to a larger box with more options along the lines of a hugely updated Monomachine Mk II / III or some equivalent.
