Blofeld Editor/Librarian in 2018

The MicroQ had a lot of trouble with speed as well when it first came out. I remember having to painfully slow Sound Diver down to get a reliable dump from mine. Wasn't so bad after a couple OS's though. The Blofeld still has all kinds of MIDI funk going on though.

The Bigglesworth dev version on github has the mod matrix activated. You need a working python 2 environment, only runs with full installation of all needed python modules <dependencies>. What is not there yet is multi editor <the gui is there but not functional>. There might be a code transition stage to python version 3 by the developer and this takes much time.

Just wanted to chime in that now in 2020 Patch Base is also available for Mac! So that's now an option for editing your Blofeld if you don't have an iPad. More info on the Blofeld editor here:

Which is the "dev" version?? According to the Github page, the last version posted there is the "legacy" version and the newest one is the one on the actual Bigglesworth website. The Github source code hasn't been updated since 2017, but the version from the website is after that..

Dev branch source code at github, no binaries there. It is not as simple as that to build from source, but if you search how to set up python develoment environment with qt and the other needed modules you will be able to run the "Bigglesworth.py" core startup file from source and compile, execute code on the fly on console. It is python version 2.x . https://github.com/MaurizioB/Bigglesworth/tree/dev

A screenshot of the "multi" mixer and the experimental sequencer. Unfortunately mixer is not functional yet. Developer needs support on the transition to python 3 and Qt5 code base, the "multi" implementation is a bit flimsy anyway on the Waldorf side. Alternative commercial solutions are expensive, so this project should stay alive. The initial design is very powerful. Other than "multi", almost all functions are there.

Uh yeah, not about to setup a whole dev environment just to run one synth editor. Ill stick with Sound Diver which works perfectly under WinXP.

I am not sure if this can work, but I can upload (7z compressed) my "python27" directory for windows, with all the needed installed dependencies. You need to install the latest python v2.7 and then install PyQt4-4.11.4-gpl-Py2.7-Qt4.8.7-x64.exe from https://sourceforge.net/projects/pyq...4/PyQt-4.11.4/ then just copy-paste all the other files from the directory I can upload to the often used path e.g. "C:\Python27". If someone wants to try the dev version, this might be a quick workaround. PM if you need this.

Alternatively you can use pip python command to install the needed modules.

The Edisyn editor for Blofeld (and a bunch of other synths) is frickin ace! Mutation and nudging and hill climbing and all sorts of great random-ish features. Bit of a pain in the ass to install, but well worth it! And free.
