So that's where it's from, eh. The controls PCB matches the layout of a VP-330 though..

Deep in the Deep Mind thread... "A string-synth please". They're listening! Definitely buying this.

Yes, I've been tempted to get an old string synth for a while now. This one will have MIDI and a vocoder!

How much for this, Mr Behringer? I am guessing 800 dollars. A roughly similar lump of circuitry and hardware to the Deepmind, but no complicated software, hefty processors or big screen. Less sliders.

The VP-03 is only 4 voices poly, right? That limitation really makes the product totally uninteresting.

I hope Behringer's build doesn't have that kind of limit.
I would like a new divide down instrument.
But I think I would prefer an RS-505:

neh, the layout with sliders, knobs, buttons and input/output jacks match the VP-330 exactly.
But I like to see a 101 also :-).

The question is will this have 39 filters and the legendary chorus of the original?
Thats one of the details that make a VP330 sound so alive and 3D compared to a plug-in, or a modern "clean" sounding analog synth. the sound is alive and electric, because inside this synth is an insane amount of circuitry. My favorite way to record it: in mono with the chorus on, you can hear a kind of phasing making the sound even more organic.

I’m not 100% sure, but i think the Filters are on the rear PCB

What makes this an instant buy for me is I was already in the market for a vintage string machine and a vocoder. Having a derivative of the VP-330 is the logical choice for me - especially if it comes with full-size keys.

It looks like the Behringer is almost an exact copy of the VP330 comparing the PCB:s. They just rearranged the stuff on the boards.

Just using SMD instead of thru-hole.

The part with the 7 jacks, seems to be the strings-section.

and the board in the middle to the right seems to be the voice filters.
(2 rows of 7 opamps im guessing just like the schematic of the VP330 shows)

I am no expert, so maybe someone who Is can compare =)

"Everybody" are doing those on your list (including B for some of them).

For a clone of a synth no longer in production, this is a great choice - better than most I've seen bandied about. I might even relent if it turns out good...
