December 2016 New Gear Thread

so i got myself this for my CR8000 today ..

it will give me MIDI, but also dynamics - by varying the trigger levels with velocity. 16 trig channels, completely configurable in software - trigger lenghts, shapes, levels etc. i am sending it in to Horstronic to install as well as mod the CR with individual outputs and add a dozen control pots on top panel for tweaking drum sound param.

Black Friday is a hell of a drug.

Plus their freebie multi tap delay. Those interfaces could however use a serious update in terms of resolution though. Oh well, not complaining.

I've barely had a chance to scratch the surface because I've been so busy, but from the 15mins I have had, it's pretty incredible. It's got a very unique character. I'll give you a more in depth review once I get a chance to really play around with it.

Nice. Always wanted a CR-8000 but settled for a CR-78 back in the day. I just finished building a CR-x000 based cowbell/clave module for Euro (Clawbell by Falafular). He does almost a full CR-x000 voice in modules (as well as a few other clones too).

How is the Clawbell? Looks interesting...if the sounds are right, I might have to add it to my list.

Seems to sound accurate enough from the clips i've heard of an original (and comparing it to the original schematics it looks nearly identical). I had some trouble getting the Clave to work but found a workaround in the end. I also made a few tweaks to get a wider range from the two oscillators, longer decay and to increase the output gain to come up to modular level. I'm looking forward to him releasing the hihats (Sizzla) and my drum section will be done.

Took solid advantage of Black Friday.

Pulplogic 54HP Zissou case with spring reverb and breath control tiles - for my extra modules - Synthrotek 37 cable holder, and Low-Fi Junky module for that BOC sound.

Also ordered a new Ken Rich Loc-n-Roc sustain pedal stabilizer for my Fender Rhodes Stage. I can't wait to try it out! The sustain pedal is my pet peeve about the Stage pianos. I'll report back on that one.

Yamaha SY77! Actually its my second, or possibly my third as I already have an SY and TG77.

Its not that I'm actually such a huge fan or even keyboardist, just that these things are selling for such shameful prices that I couldn't resist - I actually bought it only for the hard case it came in, will likely give the SY away

Interested in this, how you finding it?

For me just a humble Novation Audiohub that I needed and was in B Friday sale. Chasing some more stuff in eBay and gumtree as always, the long list stuff may have to wait a bit as apparently the family expect food and presents this month...

Hopefully a bit of January sale action coming

Synsonics Drums for $5.88 at Goodwill... one of my best finds there. And it works! That tune-able tom goes way down low and works really well as a kick drum.

Yamaha PSS 470.
I have various FM synths (DX7, DX100, TX81z, Nord G2, etc), but these little home keyboard synths are my favourite at the moment.. in the last couple of months I´ve bought 2x PSR-36, 2x PSS-360, a PSS-390, and PSS-470. They all sound different and do different things, but they all sound crude and lofi, but with a crisp, vibrant, violent sound.

Nice! don't forget to put squarewave oscs into the "clock" input. It is a bit picky, I had to try several oscs until I found one that reliably set the internal (sample-)freq. Great fun module!

A classic at a great price...

I'd always wanted one of these when they first came out back in 1989.
Never had the cash back then, but just saw this one for a little over $200
so I dropped the hammer. Got a few cards to go with it as well!
Lovely sounding beast, and a joy to program.

I ordered a Bastl Kastle yesterday, but I don't think I'll see it in December.
A few days Nanoloop Mono arrived, but when trying to test it I noticed my trusty Gameboy was broken.
New toys, no play :-( ...

Cheers,
Bert
