A hybrid analog-digital drum machine would be interesting.

I'm guessing:

A: Something that doesn't sync correctly with your DAW.
B: Something with buggy firmware and questionable build quality.
C: Something that will be abandoned within a year when the "Pro" version gets announced.
D: All of the above.

Damn.. that's cold. Not entirely untrue, but cold.

I recently picked up a SparkLE.. pretty inexpensive and fun.. but there are some definite issues with it, and it seems to have been abandoned by Arturia (the forums are an absolute ghost town)

  • So, what can we say about the new Arturia product? Well, product X has been "designed with performance and in-depth sound editing at its heart"... and it's got a number of features which place it right at the top of its category, but at "a fraction of the price." And we certainly think the price is very reasonable... The feature set on paper is awesome and will appeal to many producers and performers out there. - Ask Audio

Synth seems unlikely, don't think they can beat the DM12, so either drums or sampling. Or both.

Here for the gear

"The feature set on paper is "awesome"

Wtf does that mean? The feature set in reality is less than awsome? They haven't built one yet? Seems like an odd choice of words.

With the rest of the description, my money is on some kind of live daw controller. Somewhere between a Novation Launchpad and an Ableton Push.

If that's the case... *yawn*

I'd rather buy a 0Coast or Mother 32.

I'd bet on this. But I'd really want it to be a drum machine and/or groovebox.

I've actually been waiting for the Keystep Pro since it was released. Full size keys, ability to control 3 or 4 synths with a sequence/arp on each one plus a transpose that's easy to use, like the one in the Microbrute, no need to insert the root note beforehand.

So yeah, I'd actually love that.

Yeah, so have I. I'd like something a bit more sophisticated than my Roland master keyboards.

As an aside, the forum-wide hatred of Arturia is entirely subjective; I have two Brutes and a BSP, and they've given me no trouble so far. I suspect that's the norm, but disgruntled owners are more vocal. Understandably so, perhaps, but it does distort the reality of most people's experiences.

I'm laughing because it probably isn't that, and I'm also holding out from getting a Keystep because a KSP is inevitable

That is the response everytime arturia puts something out, and yet they are still in business... I'm guessing the minibrute/microbrute money is funding their other disastrous adventures. Matrixbrute, I think, will be DOA...

Whatever this is, it will either riddled with bugs or not going to be released for 2 more years.. the 'on paper' comment supports the latter, but it could be software.. so 'on paper' is all there is

Please not a controller, not a hybrid, not a maxi, mini, micro, midget, anything brute

Id love a drum machine or a sampler, or a drum machine that takes samples, a sampler that has drums, a groove drum...a brute drum that hybrids with software...dammit!

I hope it's something worthwhile. I've been happy with Arturia's V Collection 5 and I don't really have too much to complain against the BSP.

Just don't keep us waiting too long!

a drum machine makes sense. they have the sequencer part from the bsp and some sample playback from the spark. if it is a drum machine, i bet it's a hybrid thing. maybe 4 analog voices for the kick, clap, hihat, snare (or some percussion) and 4 sample based. there really isn't much out there in this segment. nothing between the volca type stuff and the expensive high end machines (apart form the tr8 which has the same old boring sounds from 30 years ago).

Well, I think the leaked name "DrumBrute" says a lot about it. I think it's gonna surprise a lot of people.

DrumBrute, eh?!

I'm in the market for a Tanzbar, so if the DrumBrute is analogue and good and maybe samples and doesnt catch on fire or explode and costs £500ish, I'm in.
