I do not use USB but have DIN MIDI connectors and audio output into an analog mixer.
Some people's ears may be more sensitive or perceptive maybe of latency.
If you have other MIDI synths that are not Boutique you can test it yourself.
Place a Boutique and a different synth on the same MIDI channel. Pan one hard left and pan the other hard right. Select a similar patch on both with a fast attack. You can record this into a simple program like Audacity. If you zoom in you will see there is about a 15ms delay in the Boutique. MIDI supposedly has some latency or lag but the Boutiques disappointingly have more lag than all of the synths I tested (against a JX-3p, Juno-106, D-50, Jupiter-80, and reface DX).
Do you have the boutique at the end of a chain, that could be your problem? Like I said, no such issue here.

Nope, direct MIDI. Does not matter if the Boutique is first or next in line.
Here is a video that was part of our discussion on a facebook group for the Boutiques. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=FmnXzoCktOY

I haven't noticed any latency in real world use with my JP-08 or JX-03 over USB, but have been following a thread on clan forums where Roland admits to the latency issue related to ACB on these devices and have no plans to change the spec.

So you can buy an actual Juno-106 for less than the going rate on NOS and 2nd-hand Boutique JU-06’s.
What a world!
Well - Not necessarily - But if you look at the going market rate for two second hand 4 voice JU-06's to get you 8 voices, then yeah - you're in the ballpark... That is unless you're looking at eBay prices from Japan
By golly! This thread is 2 years old and counting. I haven't read through it all but has the SH-01A beenh discussed with the 'Boutique' range? What does the panel think?
Be kind please. I am a newbie here but 50 years in the music event business which proves I know bugger all. thank you..

It has its own thread, personally I liked it. But I am not a fan of the boutiques format.
hey everyone, I just got a boutique JP08 and it has a weird issue i'm not sure about
on VCO2, the waveform selection is weird - if hard sync is off, i can only use sine, pulse, and the low frequency waveforms. saw doesnt work
if i engage hard sync, saw does work, but then sine is not selectable
is this normal behavior? any input appreciated. thanks! 🙂
Sorry i cannot help you with the JP but i want to admit, I love your Music.
2016 I listened to reshaper like a billion times.
Didn´t knew you were living in berlin nowadays!
