How/what on earth is going on with that Alesis Andromeda? I've never seen one configured that way.

It's a custom modification, and it's awesome.

*I* (really my studio partner) have an Andromeda that currently sits in my studio and I would much rather prefer this version of it than the layout I have in the stock release.

I find the stock Andromeda screen absolutely terrible to look at and hard to read.

Nice tape decks. I see you have a Crown 844. What a beast that is.
I have a Crown 824.
... and one of those beautiful Akai GX-400D-ss with the blue meters. One of the best looking RTR decks ever. Mine are not set up at the moment though.

Studio resurrection

I have been addicted to synths and electronic music since I was eleven years old.
My post traumatic stress with synthesizers started at this time when I had the chance to visit a nearby music center and laying my hands on a Jupiter 8 in 1981
I could not effort any of the synths there, but I started dreaming of them.

When I was a student, I started to buy used and broken gear to repair it. In that consequence, I collected some vintage synths, but most of them were sold for a new car or for the demands of my girlfriend and later wife.

By the way, I've got a diploma in electronics engineering.

Over the years, I built up a little studio, but never got the time to really start making music, again.

At the age of 46, shortly after some physical issues, including cardiac arrhythmia and gastritis caused by massive stress, my wife left me, taking our 9-year-old son with her, but leaving me her dog.
I went through a divorce...

Now, I turned 50 this year beeing in a real midlife crisis for the last years.

After a decade concentrating all efforts on my job, wife and son, I decided to go back to my roots and started to rebuild a production studio.

My old room was more like a closet for all that gear, so what about the unused space under the roof ?

This is how the room developed over the last 10 months... everything made on my own, except the windows, that were inserted by a professional roofer

As you can see my post some topics above, IT IS already filled with gear, but I will need a lot more time to reconnect everything.
Acoustics is the next problem... where to install absorbers.

Here some more racks:

Thank you.

It is a custom sized Buso Producer XL- a bit wider than the standard desk with 8u each side, rather than 6u.

The keyboard shelf is not completely firm- I think a sliding tray is always going to have less stability than a fixed shelf.
It is manageable though.

A friend once told me that if I'll find somebody I really love, I'll sell all my CD's, LP's and synths if she asks so or even without asking, just to give her a present etc. I replied that
-if she really loves me she will accept me with my hobbies
-these things helped me through sad times and will stay with me as long as possible.

Your story reinforced my feelings and avoid a possibly bad decision (and maybe find my place). Music and animals will heal your wounds. You are in good company with the dog and those wonderful synths. Play, create and be happy!

BTW, what is that white vocoder-ish thing under the Matrixbrute?

Roland JD-Xi (White version).

I really like the way the white one looks. If I were to ever get a JD-Xi I think it would have to be the white one (or a really good deal on a black one).

Wow, that's messed up. That's an evil woman that would just abandon a dog. I hope you two are able to heal together.
