The tables great, compact, but solid. I converted the keyboard slide out to take my mixer...very happy with it. Ive also used it for a 49 key midi controller.

I first bought one of the rack table years ago and quite honestly it was junk...nothing really aligned properly and the rack was fussy about what could go in. Eventually the wheels came away at the welding and I had to stick it on feet. The good news is the recent two I bought have that area reinforced and seem a better build altogether
Thank you, that is helpful feedback. Disappointing to hear that the corner bit is shoddy and would need reinforcement, especially since it connects to the desk and one would like to think it could hold up. Still, your mostly positive review has me considering it. Might have to hassle my Sweetwater pusher. Cheers

Sure...the corner part is only held together with wood screws into pre drilledholes...as long as your not going to move it it should be fine....I just added a couple of brackets from home depot with slightly longer screws

I picked up the desk for $125 plus tax at my local dealer. Considering the price, it is an excellent value.

As with @ kcearl , I have had issues with previous OnStage gear. But this table assembled evenly, seems solid, and has a bit of weight to it.

The keyboard slider is surprisingly solid, and stays put where you set it. There's about 2 1/2" of clearance, so could possible fit a small keyboard controller. I have the Beatstep on it, and can be pretty aggressive with the controls, but it works out great.

I also just picked up an OnStage Z-keyboard stand to replace the crappy Plixio stand in the photo (which was uneven due to a bad weld). The OnStage stand was similarly priced ($55), and was significantly heavier and more solid. It is assembled with rivets and bolts, and is perfect even as well.

So either I've just gotten really lucky, or OnStage has stepped up the QC.

Got the new Z-stand which I can now fit the Taurus under. Have the upper tier on order....still deciding on a second poly. Deepmind 12 would be the responsible choice. But considering the Sequential P6. Of course, there's always the Moog One.

Don't worry, those aren't going anywhere. If anything, I'll probably buy even more eurocrack with the money.

Y'know, one thing I don't see much of is percussion pads. I hate them for drum kit but love them on percussion and especially chromatic stuff like marimba, cool on other sounds too. Just sounds better with some things than playing with keys. I have 2 eight pad controllers beside each other for this purpose.

Funny you should mention that -- an Octapad tops my list of next-possible-acquisitions. Haven't moved on it mainly because I have a drummer-partner with a full digital kits, so why not just let him do it

Yeah, tried that. A drum kit is really not the best way to play a marimba.

Thank you. Its a Zaor Miza 88 XL, and I love it. They're pretty expensive, but I found a good deal on Ebay.

...as do I. It's called my ex wife's house.

I really like the XKey. It is the aftertouch, the bluetooth and the ultra low depth of the keypan that I like. Scales slide out of my fingers when I am playing it.

That’s a powerful but concise set up you’ve got there. It’s inviting. I just picked up the P1 control surface and after searching forever for the right surface for Logic, I think I’ve found it. Cheers on your rig cool monitor, too, what is it?

Rundown of my console. It's a hybrid OTB system with a combination of outboard and UAD real time plugins.

Interfaces:
x16 i/o from mic pres and to console inputs. x8p i/o for 4x stereo real time verbs/delays routed to console aux.

Mic Pres:
8x Tonelux MP1a, 2x Shelford Channels, RND Portico 5024, Warm WA-412,

Tonelux Console:

16 inputs, 8 bus, 4 aux. 8 buses are routed to an EQ, compressor and additional MX2 module. 6 additional EQs and 2 comps for individual channel inserts or tracking.

Other FX:

Avenson M/S processor, Dangerous Comp and BAX on stereo bus. Shelfords for tracking and line level processing, CL-2a for tracking and line level processing.

That's top-shelf spare-no-expense stuff. How come you frugallized the keys? Like I said, extremely well chosen, but with a recording rig like that, I would expect to see an OB6 or Prophet6 or (insert expensive synth).

As others have already noted, that looks like an incredibly effective setup. Nice choice and great use of space. I might wind up trying to do something similar in another location where I'll be very constrained.

What do you think of the materials and construction? And how stable is the keyboard drawer once extended? I've been eyeing the Montage 8 or a successor as a possible centerpiece and it's both heavy and tall. According to the manufacturer only one of their desks will actually accommodate it but it might be worth it.

It's an LG 34UC88. Nothing special about it. I upgraded from a 27" flat, and going to this 34" curve has made a world of difference to me using Cubase.

Thank you. I think the desk is built very well. One of the concerns I had was the drawer - it still feels good and tight after two years of steady in and out. I have to push it in and pull it out all the time during a session.

If the Montage fits, it would barely squeeze in there. Sweetwater lists the width as 57.06" (FA as 55.75"). I can about put an index finger in each side with the FA.

That Montage is 30 lbs heavier though.

I'm not sure about the width, but the height of the Montage is unworkable with most keyboard trays. The darned thing is nearly 7" tall. The one desk Zaor makes that works is the Miza X2.

Hopefully Yamaha has heard feedback that the thing was just a little bit too much of a beast and finds a way to trim it down a touch with the next iteration. Or were all the Motif iterations similarly huge?
