Great setup

Uh, those are legs. As in, table legs.

The whole thing is just two ikea tables shoved together with a bunch of modular ikea shelving up top to form a workspace and cable runs.

i like the idea of hiding cables with that modular type setup. i too have an ikea desk but used a clamp-on shelf. so cables are always visible.

yeah, it has worked out really well.
Only caveat was that the shelf modules are so slick that I wound up having to glue them together once I settled on a final configuration, otherwise they were sliding all over the place.

Nope. As i wrote earlier the dude comes from some "mister" contest or something like that i no longer remember. Not mr. universe though.

Don't know his name, i remember at the end of the video he said "bro! i hope i didn't damage any of you're keyboards" and i was like "all cool" and went packing them heading home.

Sounds good to me! Gotta say I'm shocked to find out that there's another GS member in the Panhandle.

Its all good, all I meant is the table legs are where (I thought) a chair would go..
Personal preference, I like to get leg my legs under the table.

Phase 2 will include a new U-shaped custom desk which will accommodate 4 synths flanking my controller keyboard (I hate using keyboard stands in the meantime, but I need to recover financially after all the expenses on the build first). I have two 65 foot multi-color rope lights behind the acrylic on the lower walls and a 3rd one will be coming soon above the crown. Originally the closet opening was to house my synths, but I ended up not liking working that way and moved them flanking my controller keyboard awaiting my desk build. I will now use the closet area for displaying awards, art, etc. Again, this is only phase 1 and I have much work to do for phase 2.

One of my favorite things though is the view from my window:

I am truly blessed and feel truly fortunate being able to compose music 7 days a week, any time I want, and for as short or as long as I desire....and best of all, get to stay home with my awesome wife and son.

lawd...that set up and that view....stay blessed homie...everything their looks incredible

Hey, how's the OB-6 pair up with the System-8? I am trying to decide between OB-6 or P-6 to go with mine, and thought since the JP-8 model has a 12dB filter maybe the Prophet would contrast better.

They sound great together, but unfortunately I am going to have to put the S8 (and the Sub37) for sale. I only have room for 4 keyboard synths and I really want a Modal 002 and a Solaris.

I had the pleasure of playing a system 8 in the store the other weekend and I kinda liked it and its sound. Only thing was that I found the modulation options kind of lacking, or I couldn't figure out how they worked .

Heard some modal 002 demo's on youtube and they didn't impress me actually.

So if it was my choice .

I did not end up buying the System 8 though, but I did take an Ultranova home, since I like the Novation sound and it was on sale , been playing with it and for it's price its a pretty awesome machine. We're in the process of putting our appartment up for for sale, I really need a bigger space

I finally finished the massive studio upgrade. It took about 15 months from start of planning to completion. Complete acoustic treatment and all new wiring including 60 amps of transformer isolated power with a separate earth ground. Finally, absolutely no ground loops at all! You can see cable troughs running throughout the studio to solve my biggest pet peeve which is wires everywhere. This isolates power from audio and midi lines and keeps me from tripping all over.

All signal routing including midi can be modified with the TT patchbays in the mix and instrument areas. Using an Antelope Satori for monitor control, RME Fireface UFX for main audio interface, and Behringer X32 mixer.

Midi is aggregated with 3 MOTU MidiExpress XT USB interfaces and a iConnectivity mio 10 at the mix station. Clock is routed from DAW via a Sync Gen into port 1 of each interface or via a Cirklon which is patched in via front panel.

I have 2 Vax midi keyboard controllers on order but am using K2600XS at mix station currently as well as an M-Audio Axiom 61 in the synth pit.

Traditional keyboards along a separate wall with my loveable mutt Baxter in the background hanging out.

I had full spectrum colored LED lighting installed facing up at the ceiling. It can be programmed if I wanted to actually track a soundtrack. Still working on midi control in real time.

To solve the problem of efficient storage of keyboards not in current use we created what we called the "morgue." The drawers look normal until you pull them out and see they extend very deep. This took advantage of an unused nook in my office area adjoining the main studio. The sliders can hold 400 pounds.

Out of all the awesome, I have to say that the morgue was by far the best. I could only dream of having enough space (or enough synths) for something like that...

Well done sir, you win the Internet!

Sometimes I see a killer setup and tell myself -- and even sort of convince myself -- that I wouldn't trade mine for it. But kpsiegel's setup has broken me. I would trade mine for it.

But seriously: if time/space/money were no object, I think mine would look a lot like that. Maybe a few more vintage polyanalogs, maybe a big analog desk, but for the most part, that's getting dangerously close to a dream setup for me (esp. space, windows, views, etc.). Love the "morgue," too.

The morgue idea was born of the necessity to have some sort of storage but also allow my wife to have her exercise equipment in the office next to the studio. I had previously had Standtastic stands in there with keyboards stacked up. That wasn't going to be possible so Hendrik came up with the idea because that corner was totally unused and happened to be just deep enough to be able to put a built-in keyboard storage area. Lots of work to get that in there but it makes swapping keyboards in and out a breeze. Each keyboard has everything I need already with it to swap into a spot in the synth pit.

I admit I'd like to see the look on a person's face when you open what appears to be shallow drawers, then whoosh!

The morgue was what won me over, too. In general, I like the look and workflow of Quantum7's studio better (OH MY GOD, THAT VIEW!) but as someone that's had to sell keyboards off or replace them with rack equivalents due to lack of room, I thought that was brilliant.

I love Quantum7's studio. I wish I had the architecture to allow that kind of layout. I think his space allows his studio to have a really sweet flow to it besides looking absolutely stellar. Hats off to him and everyone else that is able to work in a comfortable space. There are a lot of them that are really really nice in here.
