And personally, if I were looking to buy a used kit, that's the way I would prefer to see them...
Thanks buzz killington! Back to the pics!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! I found it. What is strange, is that for some reason it shows that link to be clicked on by my computer before…
However, that is the RADDEST set up I've ever seen!

are you looking at the same photos as the rest of us?

no DRUMMER set up these kits to "show off" the 'elements' of the set

It's quite obvious that the Drummer quit the drums, went off to college, and these kits were set up by the drummer's MOM, which is what makes them so hilarious!

look at #90! Did somebody stick a cymbal arm to place that rack tom THREE FEET to the left of the kick drum in order to "show" that element of the kit??? Wouldn't that tom be just as 'visible' where it belongs instead of sticking out into space?

come on, that's funny!

what about this one:

did some Drummer decide that potential buyers needed to see the UNDERSIDE of that mid-tom in order to make a purchasing decision??

do buyers need to see the batter head of a kick drum? Is that why the kick drum is backwards with the spurs facing the wrong way on the Pearl kit in # 87? heh

I don't mind them 'opening up' the kit a little, but personally I can not imagine anything worse for me as a potential purchaser than to see a drumset set up in an "impossible to play" configuration. The first thing I want to look at is to imagine myself playing those drums.

How is it mounted? There aren't any tom arms that long.

1 and 3 are pretty hilarious- definitely in the running for "worst" drum setup.

But I think 4 and 5 could be given the benefit of the doubt = more like what bdenton was talking about - someone just pulling out the snare to make it more visible in the shot

let's see your kit and hear some of your playing.....sorry to be an ass, but that was really out of line man, so I am calling you out.....
Dude haha just saw this response almost 3 years later. I just call em how I see em... And I've live mixed probably 4000+ bands. Only chix and A.C. Slater rock a setup like that. Why are stereotypes usually true? And i dont have any clips, but I've been playing drums for 23 years. Shiiit am I getting old :(

Yeah, but it's the floor tom positioning that really brings the chuckle!

I think it's a 14" actually. Dunno if you can see, but it is mounted on a broken drum stick stuck in one of the tom mounts. :P

I know I have a picture, somewhere, of my setup that had two drums kits (the black one and the red one) set up together that was nearly unplayable. Why did noone ever smack me and tell me I was being stupid when I was 18?

The floor tom placement and floating black tom are getting all the attention in this photo, but I would like to point out the hi-hat cymbals, specifically the height of the stand.

That's a HIGH-hat.

the floating black toms must be a "thing" - we keep seeing this

according to the Moms who assemble these drums for the photos, it needs to be at cymbal-height with the batter head looking you in the face, like a computer monitor

in the second kit, I imagine the drummer is supposed to wrap his legs around the floor tom to play the kick with his left foot and the hi-hat with his right.

It's hard to see in the photo unless you zoom in, but the floor tom leg is SO foreshortened that it sticks up above the head, potentially stabbing you in the right wrist should you try to play the drum with sticks.
