Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Reviews?

My band plays rock music and we currently use a Zildjian 22" A Custom Ping Ride (mostly riding, not crashing; wood tip sticks). It has served us well but our primary issues are that it is too dang loud and very bright. It is a monster to tame in a mix, either in studio or live. The loud volume is the primary issue. We want something with nice definition, but quieter and a little darker.

We recently went to every music store in Houston and played with tons of rides. The one that stuck out to us as most pleasing was the Meinl Byzance Dark Ride (not the Big Apple version). Unfortunately, we were only able to play on 20" versions...ideally we would like a 21" or maybe a 22" to replace our ping ride.

Anyone have experience with the Meinl Byzance Dark Ride? Specifically, would the Meinl be considered loud, or normal volume? Are the attack details pronounced or muddy? Does the ride blend or cut through the mix?

We need a ride with significantly less volume than the ping ride. We desire good definition for ride details, yet something that tends to blend more than cut through.

Other cymbals in our set up are...Zildjian 17" K Custom Hybrid Crash, Zildjian 20" A Custom Crash, Zildjian 14" A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats (will probably replace the hats in the near future).

Open to any other suggestions. Thanks for the help. Cheers!
