Am I crazy?

I recently purchased a set of Sonor delites from the GS forum. I was very psyched to get them, but I am not thrilled so far. These drums seem to very picky about precise tuning. Reminds me of my old Spaun kit.

They don't sound like crap, but at the same time don't hold a candle to my Yamahas.
I was going to use them live and keep the Yamahas in the studio. But they didn't have the same rich tone as my RCs. Maybe I've become so used to the sweet birch sound that the maple is throwing me off.

I have tried many different head combos, so far the coated emperors are winning. Still not where I would expect a drum of this price to be.

Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

Yeah,
It might be that the more midrange-y sound of maple is not what your used to, it does not have the excitement of the attack and low-end of birch.
