Auralex 2" foam is it worth it?

I'm trying to use this foam inside my closet, with a double layered curtain (hung by a Hospital rail), and one around the window (Special Curtains $1,300. And I also plan pattern it around my space, along with GIK Acoustic Panels (3 set) and single diffuser for the listeners area near a leather couch.

I currently have tile flooring, and am laying down carpet tomorrow, but I'm limited by how much room I have. And my Budgette is capped, so is laying 2" in a pattern worth it?

Overall I'll be spending $7,000.00 to complete my studio, and I want to save for a trip to florida. (I'm in Sicily)

I am curious about the 2" foam as well.

Someone is selling it to me for a good price. Ten 2x4s for 150

Am I correct in assuming you plan to turn your closet into a vocal booth, as well as having a larger live room? If so, I would suggest you scrap the closet idea due to the difficulty you'll have taming such a tight area. It’s very hard to control lower frequencies in tiny spaces, and with foam being effective for higher frequencies, echoes, and the like (that 2” foam included), it’ll make the high/low imbalance even more pronounced.

If do you plan on having a larger recording room, treating that space properly and recording vocals in there will be much more effective than dividing a budget between a live room and a vocal booth that will be more work than it’s worth.

2" foam is only going to eat up upper frequencies but leave the low end bounding around the room. If you already have it you can use it here and there for flutter, but I would not recommend using it as the main treatment. Small room mainly have low end problems which you need proper bass trapping.

For $150 you could make twelve 2" roxul firebat treatments. So I'd say that isn't a very good price.

Build rockwool boxes/panels. Better, cheaper, more effective.
