Foamtak Auralex adhesive removal - suggestions?

I'm moving out of my basement studio which I covered a lot with auralex foam - the foamtak adhesive as well as tiny bits of the grey foam is everywhere - looks horrible and I'm trying to sell my house.

Suggestions to remove it? I'm thinking
- sander, repaint
- some kind of paint thinner or goof off or something?
Anyone have any experience before I start experimenting?

Won't help you now, but next time glue the foam to pegboard type panels and hang them with small nails. Come out fine, and go up again easy!

Sandblaster? Surface-to-air missile? Battery acid?

Seriously, I hear this all the time. Most of my customers who remove glued foam end up having to scrape it off and patch drywall when they are done.

Thanks guys. For anyone searching this in the future, a powerful sander (makita circular with 80 grit), followed by a finishing sander to smooth it off worked. Then spackle and paint.

Goof-off (which auralex recommended by the way) - barely worked, and as per my painter - recommended don't use too much of it - causes headaches (and probably some damage inside the noodle!) - especially in places not well ventilated.

To add to this, goof-off is not a very practical solution. Tried it, and ended up sanding by hand then spackling over it. What a pain, never again.
