Some clarification please, im confused

Ive read lots of posts and articles but I dont quite get the difference between absorbers and bass traps. Ive learned that absorbers should be put at the first reflection points and bass traps basically wherever its needed. But what is the difference? Its about the thickness? Or the insulation material? I was going to build several 6 inches bass traps (from fiberglass) for my studio/mixing room and put some of those at the first reflection points, is that wrong? Thanks.

Bass traps are absorbers, so with fiberglass type traps the only difference is thickness. There are some fine points, such as possibly using lower density material for mid/high frequency absorbers. Or bonding a semi-reflective membrane to the front of the fiberglass which is not appropriate for absorbing higher frequencies. But mostly a bass trap is just a thick absorber.
