QRD with unfaced or FRK-faced OC703 beneath wells

Many DIY put OC703 beneath the wells of a QRD.

1. Should the OC703 be faced with FRK or unfaced?

2. Could one use Armstrong 403a acoustic ceiling panels (made of OC701 or OC703) faced with a white plastic instead of the OC703 and use the white plastic instead of FRK if your answer to #1 was that it should be faced with FRK.

I would just go with it unfaced.

What's the effect of OC703 or rockwool beneath the wells? Does it deliver absorption?

Yes, but honestly I can't see how it would do all that much as there really is not a lot of fiberglass in them.

I suspect at most it would do is to contribute to the damping of potential mechanical resonance in the walls of the unit.

All in all, an expensive and inefficient use of OC703.
