Is there any good way to stack cardboard box bass traps?

As mentioned here, I'm interested in making some carboard box bass traps. I found this site, where I can get a bunch of boxes, and I have a local source for insulation, along with an extant collection of mineral wool. I don't want to put a single hole in the walls of the place I'm moving, so I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to just stack the boxes.

I first thought about lowering their center of gravity using sand, but I figure the top ones will just fall off, even if the bottom ones stay upright. I'm also considering sticking the boxes to the wall, perhaps with silicone. Does anyone have experience with removing silicone from painted walls, or any other suggestions?

Sure, use light fluffy attic insulation (do not compress it) and make sure the boxes are the correct dimension to be stacked from the floor to the ceiling.

If they are off by a little bit then put a couple pieces of wood the length of the boxes somewhere in the middle of the stack, or just cut the top boxes to the correct size.
