Polyester Insulation for traps??

Hi acoustic experts,

I'm about to superchunk my corners and was going to go with a product that combines fiberglass and rockwool. But I've come across some polyester insulation products that mean I don't have to worry about protective gear or full length clothing if they will work.

Buy QuietStuf Thermal Acoustic in the Building Materials Mall

Buy Polycoustic Wall Batts in the Building Materials Mall

Any help in regards to these would be great. The superchunks will be going about 2-3 metres high.

Thanks in advance.

I looked real fast and did not see any lab test numbers so hard to say how well it would work.

You may want to email the company to see if they have any lab numbers. If so that will help determine how well it will work or not work.

Agreed, without specs it's impossible to say. But I'm skeptical, generally absorbent material used for acoustic panels are made from fiberglass, rockwool, or cotton. The fact that specs aren't readily available makes me even more skeptical.

Do you want to be a guinea pig, and spend money, time and effort on an unknown, or stick with proven materials?

Hehe. Of course not. Hence the reason I'm asking here. I emailed the company before I posted here. I thought maybe someone had experience with it but.... turns out no. I know a product called Tontine Acoustisorb here is australia is awesome and I think that is polyester but it is quite expensive.

Acoustisorb 3(50mm) Sound absorbtion coefficients:
125 250 500 1000 2000 NRC
0.40 0.70 0.91 0.95 0.94 0.9

The 90mm of the quietstuf NRC is .9 as well however I know that means sfa for low frequencies.

If I'm chunking doesn't the low frequency SAC increase dramatically anyway?
