DIY room acoustic treatment for those who can't afford fancy absorber/basstraps ?

Sup guys

I'm a bedroom music producer and making music is a hobby, but over time I realize how echoe-y and sound reflections just distort the accuracy of the sound I wanted to sculpt into.

Normally I don't mind if the room is not treated at all because I didn't care much for mixing/mastering. Now I kind of do since I really wanted to finish songs.

The issue is budget right now since quality basstrap/wall panels are out of my budget. BUT, looking across the internet it appears that heavy duty blankets might just do the trick. Not as well as the gears designed for that purpose, but it gets the job done while being broke lmao

Can anyone with experience confirm with this alternative blanket treatment? If there are other ways to do it, would you kindly suggest too?

Many thanks

I would have thought blankets were more expensive that mineral wool / fibre-glass panels from a building supplies company?

Making my own panels it was the wooden frames that cost more in materials but if you're not worried about appearance you could just wrap them in fabric with no frame.

Where do you live and what is your budget?

I'm in the US and perhaps my budget would not exceed $100 for acoustic treatment
