Adding more ins/outs to existing 192 IO setup

I have two old 192 IOs connected to a new HDX system. Combined the 192 IOs have 16 analog inputs and 24 analog outputs, and I'm looking to add another 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

Would it make sense to simply pick up another used 8x8 192 IO for a few hundred bucks and add it or does it make more sense to get a different converter and connect it to the digital inputs of the existing 192 IOs? Any thoughts about sound quality or compatibility?

I was thinking something similar lately as I wanted to increase the numbers of analog I/0 for HW processing.
I have an Orion and use 16 ch of summing and the other 16 for external HW processing, but with the stereo processors etc it isn't enough and I have to re-patch stuff during mixing which is a bit distracting, as opposed to having everything kind of permanently patched.

Anyhow... I was just looking at my options for an extra 8 channels AD/DA, and didn't want to spend a fortune.

New I would probably get one of the Ferrofish interface/convertors, they are reasonably priced.
Otherwise been looking at a used Apogee, maybe Rosetta 800 or even the old AD8000 which still holds quality wise even though it is 2 rack spaces...
At a really low budget I was even considering an old Motu of some kind. RME convertors are OK too.

If it's not your main convertors, I guess these should be good enough and kinda cheap.
