Pro Tools FIRST

Anyone care to explain what differences there are between Pro tools First and other versions of Protools?
Thank you in advance!

The first and main difference of Pro Tools | First to the other versions is that it is free.

THe other differences are mainly restrictions:
  • Some of the pro features are not available
  • It only works with Projects that are stored online
  • Max 3 Projects allowed

Other than that it works and feels exactly like the paid Pro Tools versions, so whenever you are ready to upgrade, you already know 80% of the app.

If you need help in learning Pro Tools | First, I have released the only full-featured book "Pro Tools | First 12 - How it Works", available as pdf file, printed book (Amazon) and interactive multi-touch iBooks on Apple's iBooks Store.

Of course, like virtually any free (free-mium) apps, and that is totally fine.

How about this model:
Make Pro Tools HD free, but app supported. Whenever you press record, a window pops with playing a 30s video for Pepsi.

yes but with FIRST you can't SAVE to your computer, cloud storage only. Don't think Id want AVID in charge of my tunes even with the limit of 3

No Pepsi videos for me thanks

I agree with you TWO versions only. FREE which would be like StudioOnes Prime and the regular Protools. Avid won't do anything logical though, its all about bleeding the sheep for them
