3M 966/986 - What's the best treatment?

I have some 2" reels of this tape, one of which looks like it could contain the last known performance of a well known singer so I'm interested in transferring this on my newly restored MTR90. I've tried a few other reels of the same tape and they all shed quite a bit (although nothing like as much as Ampex) so I was wondering if anyone knew what the current recommended treatment was for this tape. All the information I can find seems to be 10 years old and I know that these tapes weren't shedding when I used them 10-12 years ago. Richard Hess suggests baking at

Just to answer my own question - I tried baking for 6 hours at 55 degrees C and it worked perfectly. There were some great performances on there but not the one I was really hoping for.

Just seeing this now but that’s the solution I would have suggested. Richard is THE man when it comes to this stuff.
