Video Game Soundtrack transfer

Hi there,

I do a fair amount of video game soundtracks, both new and old, both compilation and OST. Mostly for vinyl premastering, but not exclusively.

Last night I conducted an interview with a video game music blog (I will share link once its out) and we had a really good chat about best sources and best transfer practices.

We got talking about 90s PC game soundtracks and the best practice for reproducing the sound as heard by the end user at the time:

Original 90s pc chipset and soundblaster inbuilt/external consumer soundcard.

I wondered if anyone had reproduced a playback system for this purpose? old pc, old soundcard, working(!) and done a hi res digital archive?
