Logic Pro Step Sequencer - real time transpose?

I've finally had some time to spend with the Step Sequencer and am very close to selling a couple of my hardware step sequencers as I have found using the DAW a lot more satisfying.

Context: I am sequencing external synths via MIDI and/or CV (using converters).

What I'm trying to do is change the root note of the sequence in real time from a MIDI keyboard. A very common functionality of a hardware step sequencer.

Can this be done in Logic either on a macro (entire session) level or on a per sequence/cell/loop level?

I haven’t found a way sadly. I agree, this is actually the MOST important function of a hardware sequencer, so i was quite bummed that it didn’t do that.

I might have to hold off selling my hardware sequencers....

I wonder if there's a 3rd party step sequencer that has that functionality?

Some, if not all, of the HY Plugins sequencers have that ability. There are free lite versions of their sequencers that include it.

Investigated and purchased. Working great. Thanks for the tip.

Was able to quickly and easily sequence a Pro One, Sub37, SH101 simultaneously. Transpose from external keyboard or another MIDI track works. With a little jiggery pokery in the Environment I was able to add this to my Logic template with one keyboard transposing multiple sequences.

Try using Logic's Transposer MiDI plug.

Thanks. I'm unsure how that would work with an external keyboard? The problem I was solving for was how to transpose the Logic Step Sequencer plug-in in real time from a hardware keyboard. Mimicing how most step sequencers were intended to be used.

Have you ever used a hardware sequencer?
