NAMM 2019 Bringing Logic Pro X 10.5

I have a pretty good feeling that we will see Logic 10.5 around NAMM time.

NAMM won't but Apple pretty much will on Wednesday next week. New Delay Designer with updated interface (like Space Designer). Updated or brand new sampler. Mixer updates. I know nothing for sure but I would bet on it.

I actually have no idea what you're talking about... when Logic X came out in 2013, all everybody complained about is how dark it was, for years! It was only in version 10.3 that we were able to make the UI a bit brighter.

This would be awesome but what's your feeling based on?

Historically Logic updates have been released the day/few days before both Winter and Summer NAMM.

Little birdy makes me think of that tune by Vince Guaraldi...

Anyway, hoping for a Cubase/Studio One-esque chord track.

Overall, I prefer Cubase's implementation.

A couple years ago, someone posted (here?) that Apple submitted a patent for polyphonic tuning (ala Melodyne DNA). Perhaps that will show up in a new chord track with functionality similar to Studio One's.

I know I can just use those other DAWs, but would appreciate consolidating my workflow.

Looking forward (hopefully) to an announcement next week.

Funny coincidence. Today on my way home iTunes played Vince Guaraldi in shuffle mode. What are the odds?

i just want to be able to search for a plugin and be able to change the colour palette back to L9 & black text.
also.. an EXS24/Sampling overhaul similar to Ableton Simpler / Serato Sample.

I have a feeling this is the end of the road for me with Logic.

Currently on OS Sierra and iOS 11. Everything is humming along and just working fine. I have stuff that does not work on High S and Mojave.

I just know that Apple will have us upgrade to the latest OSX. And then Logic Remote will need iOS 12. And ...

It's ok. The current Logic is pretty powerful stuff...

Well, that was an expected emergency bugfix update because the previous 10.4.3 version broke something fairly fundamental that they needed to fix ASAP.

Nothing to do with a major new feature update...

I hope we get something in the way of a new sampler and I would love a sample based drum pad program (like battery). I recently moved to Studio one and love it, but I'm back with Logic because it's just more stable. But I will really miss some of the S1 features.

Things I'd like to see:

- Plugin Search
- Patch/Channel Strip Favourites tagging
- Vocalign style audio alignment across multiple tracks
- New Sample Editor for EXS that completely replaces all of what Keymap did
- New GUis for EXS24, Sculpture, Ultrabeat
- Environment overhaul, maintain compatibility with old environments but with visual refresh, and including scripting objects
- Sierra Compatible

I'm still hoping for full support for Softubes Console 1. Being able to use vol, pan and send levels would improve my workflow so much (I'm not using a dedicated DAW controller). Ah well, one can dream, right?

I'm not entirely sure. Last year they actually released it on the first day of NAMM (25th of Jan) for the first time, so not the day before as they used to. There is a good chance lads it's coming tomorrow.

True. We'll see tomorrow. Hopefully... It might be their new schedule, the first day of NAMM. Would definitely make sense.

Just did some research... so I looked into the January Logic update release dates versus the first day of the winter NAMM's dates since 2014 (since Logic Pro X was first released July of 2013) and this is what I found:

1st day of Winter NAMM 2014: January 23rd, Logic 10.0.6 released: January 22nd (the day before)

1st day of Winter NAMM 2015: January 22nd, Logic 10.1 released: January 22nd (the day of)

1st day of Winter NAMM 2016: January 21st, Logic 10.2.1 released: January 21st (the day of)

1st day of Winter NAMM 2017: January 19th, Logic 10.3 released: January 18th (the day before)

1st day of Winter NAMM 2018: January 25th, Logic 10.4 released: January 25th (the day of)

The pattern I'm seeing is:

Day Before - Day Of - Day Of - Day Before - Day Of

so this should be followed by another Day Of (1 Day Before followed by 2 Day Of's)? Obviously there's seems to be no Logic update today (so far) so the release date will most likely be tomorrow which is the Day Of (NAMM). Or perhaps they'll completely surprise us and release the next big update in July of this year, kind of like how they did back in 2013.

At the end of the day, no one really knows. Not even "little birdies". Apple does whatever the hell they want to do. Let's see what happens tomorrow!

The little birdies working on Logic definitely know but they ain't seem to be flying around here spreading this sort of highly classified information.
