Favourite Logic Pro wishes, part THREE

Hi all, here's part three of the Logic wishes poll.

Part one is here:
Favourite Logic Pro wishes, part one

Part two (MIDI/score/composition) is here:
Favourite Logic Pro wishes, part two

I've received a lot more suggestions, so there will be at least one more poll. Please keep posting suggestions, either in a PM or in this thread.

This is a multiple choice poll.

Poor developers - I hope they don't believe that anyone assumes that they'll implement all these things in Logic 11. :-) Anyway, I've voted. Who's next?

It's in the list for the next poll already:

Improve the Arrange Track feature
Ghost notes a la Fruity Loops
A proper slip edit tool
Disable all active plugins in the project with a single, obvious command
Ability to solo regions from inside each of the editors
Stereo/mono channel mode selection per Region
"Universal Browser”, which contains Library, loops, plugins, samples, etc. under different tabs
Ability to lock tempo events
A way to search for plugins with UI pictures (see Studio One 3)
In Browser, a "Tracks" tab which lists all tracks, with option to show/hide, turn on/off, group tracks, make folders etc.
Remote simultaneous collaboration over the internet (such in OhmStudio)
Tool Bar with icon size similar to the top Command Bar
Ability to have channel strips fully coloured in the mixer and/or arranger window
Have all side panels on the same side (a.k.a : move the library panel to the right)
Drag and drop a stereo region to split it into two monos, or merge two monos into a stereo one
Ability to open panels (browsers, loops, Library, etc. inside any active window*
Simple selection of multiple MIDI events by their velocity with the Marquee tools in the MIDI Draw
Allow use of key commands to trigger Transform presets
Ability to apply a fade on a marquee selection
Option to see inserts/sends in the arrange view (not inspector), such as PT -* when the track is widely zoomed
Better visual filtering
Option to show the velocity as vertical bar instead of the dot and horizontal bar, or even both (see FL Studio 12)
Ability to have a colour palette directly in the Toolbar or Top Command bar
MIDI regions: Ability to to quickly build a MIDI sequence by using Step Sequencer Pattern (see FL Studio & Live)
Bring back split stereo files
A window with a list of arrange windows like Final Cut Pro7 does with sequences
Import discrete surround files ( .L, .R, .C, .Ls, .Rs) w/o files automatically converted to a consolidated surround file
A key command to load an instance of Kontakt or other AU Plugin
A CC automation Setup window (See Cubase)
Keep stereo graphics for stereo region, regardless the zoom level, even if it only has to be a simple line
Improved metering on channel strips, like the Multi Meter plug-in.
Snap mode a la Reaper
Ability to create track stacks/folders directly from the mixer
A BounceInPlace which replaces a MIDI region with audio, turning off inst. & keeps audio effects (Reaper)
Customisable UI colours
A less cluttered automation view (show nodes only shown when you need them)

Allow midi LFO modulation plugins to be able to manipulate any automatable parameter of any plugin, without resorting to using the Environment (which only half works, anyway) or controller assignments (which are a pain to manage).

I'm curious. Are the results of these polls being sent to Apple?
Is it Apple that has initiated these polls?
It sure would be nice if the poll results actually make their way into the next version Logic.

I agree that controller assignments are a pain to manage, but please elaborate, in which way do you want to manipulate the parameters?

Yes, but we need more votes first (and there will be at least one or two more polls).

No.

With Logic's slow development, especially in certain areas, there's no way they could (or would want to) implement all these wishes in one, next, major release. Remember that there are also this and this poll...

Don't be too optimistic, several of the wishes in this thread originally appeared in this poll from the Logic 8 days:

Which of these features are most important for you in a future, *major* Logic update?

In theory, someone good with Javascript and general programming knowledge could produce this today outside the environment. If I'm reading this correctly, is is like Ableton or Bitwig (the latter in particular with their Unified Modular Engine) using macros assigned to key parameters of VIs or EFX -- not quite apples to apples with our Smart Controls. For instance, using the LFO Tool in conjuntion with a synth or plugin would be akin to it being built into Serum -- but for any parameter. Too bad its not currently implemented as a Logic MFX, but I would imagine the cost / benefit to providing the code to one DAW is not tremendous.

Note to Native: LFO Tool does it via MIDI CC and can route complex LFO shapes to a MIDI track, though not any parameter like in Bitwig (again it is not an MFX.) Serum (a soft synth) has it built in. The various Articulation ID solutions are a different aspect of MFX. This is much broader and not limited to just LFOs in the big picture, but filters and all other EFX such that the modulator becomes part of the internal signal chain of the receiving plugin.

Back on topic:
A Midi FX could be developed. Right now, Logic does have the Modulator MFX though it is not as deep as Xfer's tool. However, it is a move in the right direction and I'm somewhat surpirised someone hasn't jumped on this sooner.

I like the idea that you can use Cableguys Midi Shaper plugin to, for instance, animate the filter inside Retro Synth and an eq point in Channel EQ by using the method shown here:

Cableguys | Audio Plugins

I guess I'd like two things to be implemented. 1) FX plugins to be able to receive and send midi/note information and 2) Midi CC signals, whether from control surfaces or LFO-type plugins, to be patched to anything that moves and for that setting to be saved within the project.
