Beats me as to which came first. Mine is "Hardware version: 0100" so my guess is that mine is a fairly early model. But I suspect there were/are some occasional minor variations between units.

Nik, mine has Nagra VI on the left too. And it has the Nagra Parrot inside the transport control circle.

Apparently the Parrot was on their earlier tape recorders. it's been added to the Anniversary model only.

Thanks for the photos, great looking setup you have John Willett. In comparison my machine is missing the 'lim' text, the speaker icon is replaced with 'LS' and a couple other small differences.. I wonder if anyone else here has the same faceplate as me?

Hey and on that note does anyone know how much it would cost to get a new faceplate? I'm quite partial to the blue one..

I'm guessing you have a first generation grey one - I think the first grey ones did not have the "VI" - they did this when they did the coloured ones and then on the grey after the first batch of greys sold out.

I chose the burgundy one as it has the best contrast to see clearly in all light levels (other than the aluminium one, of course).

Hey Nik, the wireless Rii i8+ mini keyboard you recommended just arrived. Plugged it in to the VI and bingo, it works like a charm. Thanx for the recommendation. It works just as well on the Seven too.
