I see that the SF1 does in fact use the same capsules as the TF-5, but with different electronics.

Sample

Hi guys! I hope you are all doing well!
I'm pretty new to the ambisonics world but I got the microphone last week and this is one of my first samples, recorded the ambience for 6 minutes and exported in Ambix.
So far i'm loving it!
Here's the sample in case you guys want to check it out!
I have it for free download

I wonder, if this is a fact, why the price for four capsules on SF1 costs less than a TF-5 stereoset?

Bumping this thread ((8-8))

A Soundfield microphone with Tony Faulkner signature capsules at a fair price ~ it's surprising that it doesn't get more attention.

Curious if anyone have recent experience with this, especially recording acoustic music?

Edit: BTW I've been in touch with TonyF, who has confirmed these are the same capsules as used on TF-5

Dave S, in post 61 above, claims the soundfield mic has 'different electronics' ...I wonder how different, and is that simply to account for the multi vs single capsule operation...or is there some more tonal shaping involved due to the closer capsule spacing ?
