I found the Holly Grail of synths

I did.Really. It shits all over my other synths soundwise and flexibilitywise. I got myself a Serge Animoo panel. Compared it to my other synths - Virus TI, Moog Voyager, PEK, Juno 60. It just destroys all of them. Of course its subjective and all those synths are ok and have their special color which might be usefull, but at this point this is the sound. Currently I am seriously thinking about selling all the other stuff in favour of more Serge stuff. Anyone want to make me stop?

Just wanted to share my observation. Not want to start an argument which is better which is not, so dont even start.tutt

Oh - and one more thing - Soft Synths suck big time. All of them. Its even more evident then ever to me now. Thin, lifeless, no balls and characters. Hate'em all.

In the entire history of humankind no one was ever able to stop anyone with delusions! heh

Yeah, that's a good one.
Not sure it's THE holly grail.
Or even the holy grail.

But certainly one of the holly triniti!

heh

(And in this case, I do agree. There is NOT a soft synth
than can hold a candle to the Animal/Animoo. Few hardware
synths can... it's one of the best analog synths ever designed)

It is my first modular.I thought it will take me weeks to get any usable sounds out of it. I was making some killer patches after few hours. It is so intuitive and smart designed. One panel like Animal/Animoo has usability of a three times bigger systems designed in more "traditional" way.

I was just about to ask this very same question. From time to time I've tried to find Serge stuff from the net but never found any...

Look at a sticky at the top - Serge purchasing info.

Also look here for prices and info about the modules:

For those looking, there's lots of info on my Serge site in addition to the EGRES site:
http://www.carbon111.com/serge_index.html

The Animal/Animoo is indeed a real beast! heh

It's well over 5g's after you add a case and a psu.

I've uploaded some self running patches from mine up on this site:

My studio is temporarily boxed up, so this is all that I can muster for the time being. I have to say, though, making generative patches like this is very relaxing.

Yes - it is steep. My Animoo (which is Animal with Ring Mod) cost me about 5500$ - including some patchcords and shipping. But we are talking Ferrari here. Besides its about four times the capabilities it looks.

We all know that the serge can make crazy sounds, no need fo that in your demo.

I want to know in the bass departement and the leads department, what can a serge do!

I hate insect music so You can count on some more "traditional" sounds. I will post a sample tommorow. It has extremely wide spectrum. I was never able to make such deep and thick basses with any other of my synths.

It's very versatile. Many artist who buy Serge happen to create experimental
music because it tends to lend itself more to that than other synths.

But, be certain that Stevie Wonder used Serge. So it can do traditional
diatonic music exceptionally well.

Do you have a creature? I'm looking at the panel, and can't figure out how many osc the creature have.

It does - most Youtube demos sound horrible, unmusical and y y. If You want to hear some cool stuff, check out Carbon 111 site - he has some really nice scapes done on Serge.

I don't have a Creature any longer.
But it has up to 4 oscillators...

But the NTO + P VCO have a wider range
for tracking... better to go with a Animal
if you want a complete diatonic synth.

I can't afford the animal.

What do you mean by diatonic synth?
