This is true, I know so many engineers that mix with a lava lamp on top of the desk. Some say they are a standard, others say they are harsh, too bright, and too 80's. I disagree, every major record is mixed on one though! I bought one of the chinese made ones, dead on arrival, figures, though it was only about $20, I am looking into a lighning lamp, might put a bit more thunder in the mixes.
