Wanted: Intern at Bedrock Studios in LA
Description: Hello interested applicant,
This ad is for an intern position at Bedrock Studios, as well the applicant chosen will serve as an intern and assistant for Bedrock's studio manager: an award winning independent engineer/producer/mixer.
This is an unpaid position, there will be no compensation for the duration of the internship. The internship lasts 6 months. During the internship you will be expected to be reasonably available at least 40 hours per week, especially on weekends. Ideal internship candidates are financially independent for the period of their internship and do not have to work another job to earn money. However, we understand that everyone must earn some income to survive so we will be willing to work around any jobs that you may have - provided that you give at least 2 weeks advance notice for any scheduled work/social event.
When the internship is completed there is a possibility of paid work in the service of both Bedrock and the independent engineer who will be your supervisor. Please be aware that you must exit your internship extremely qualified to do engineering on your own to be considered for additional paid employment.
Job duties:
- Cleaning
- Marketing
- Studio maintenance
- Construction
- Running errands
- Assisting on sessions at the studio
- Assisting of location recording sessions
- Engineering your own sessions (assuming you are qualified, if this is asked of you it may be paid work even during your internship)
- Processing audio through our echo chambers
- Pro Tools Editing (if you are qualified)
- Mix setups (if you are qualified)
- Mixing (if you are qualified)
- Soldering/cable repair/cable construction (if you are qualified)
You can expect to receive instruction on recording and mixing techniques, mastering, as well as acoustic theory, design, and implementation (all assuming you are competent and make yourself useful enough to be given these types of duties). There will also be many opportunities to learn the human-interaction side of engineering and production - an invaluable set of skills for anyone who would like to have a career in audio that actually supports them.
