Looking for Boston-area interns.
Mad Oak Studio in Allston, MA is looking for 2-3 new interns. The position is unpaid, and will require one or two dedicated days per week of work at the studio. Interns are encouraged, however, to come by as frequently as possible.
While we don't require our interns to have degrees in audio engineering or production, a working knowledge of signal flow, session set up, and - most importantly - STUDIO ETIQUETTE is a must.
We have very few interns working for us at any given time (typically two or three, max), which means a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of really cool first-hand experience. The vibe is pretty laid-back, but we expect a professional attitude from everyone who steps through our doors. That goes double for the staff.
There are opportunities for advancement at Mad Oak; interns quickly become assistants, and those demonstrating ample competence are allowed to book their own sessions. Those of particular skill might even find themselves engineering sessions that I or my first assistant don't have time for.
If interested, please email me (bgrotto@gmail.com) or send me a PM. Include a cover letter and resume, as well as any pertinent personal info you might wanna share (for example, do you play in a local band?). A list of references will greatly help your chances!
I'll get back to each and every applicant personally, however it might take some time. If you don't hear from me for a few days, don't fret. If you don't hear from me for a few weeks, please follow up with a second email. After selecting a good cross-section of applicants, we'll begin the interviewing process. I'm hoping that'll take place throughout January, meaning: if you're reading this and it's February, you're probably too late.
Finally, if you're currently in school, this internship can likely be done for credit. However, we're looking for a commitment more long-term than a school semester. Please take that into consideration when applying.
Thanks for your time.

Needed-3 piece rock band for corporate gig in Miami
The ideal band would be a vocalist/guitarist, drummer who can play some guitar, and bassist. Its for a special corporate songwriting gig.
There are things that will be asked by each member to do.
The band doesn't have to have a party set ready, but if they've got a 3 or 4 classic rock tunes they can plow through that's always a help.
There will also be an opportunity for someone to help in recording the event as well.
If anyone is interested or know of someone that may fit the bill shoot me a PM or email.
Thanks.

Need Studio Tech in Austin
Title says it all. The job involves repurposing a bunch of connectors at the ends of mogami cabling looms that came with 4 TT patchbays. The bays themselves terminate mostly in Elco female, then there are fan outs from Elco male to various snakes, TRS, inserts, etc. The patchbays came to me when I acquired a console.
I need to marry this console with my tape machine, get the bays reconfigured using as much of the existing cable as possible, and get back to work, pronto. kfhkh
I will be doing a lot of the soldering myself. Whoever thinks they'd like to tackle it will have help.
If any out-of-towners are interested, there's a clean, monastic living quarters attached to the studio. The facility itself is located in the heart of downtown Austin, within convenient walking distance of much of what the city has to offer. thumbsup
Message me if you know anyone are would like more specific info about this project. Thanks, M kfhkh

Will help engineer in exchange for experience
I'm a primarily self-taught engineer, with a reasonable knowledge about gear and the basics about mic placement and mixing. I've done full bands before by myself, so I'm not a noob, but want to venture into the professional studio realm without going back to school (I have a day job that prevents me from doing so).
I'm looking for a studio that is willing to let me help out on Friday afternoons and weekends in exchange for experience - primarily with mic placements, mixing techniques and overall practice recording. I took a few courses in college on Pro Tools (about 6 years ago), am currently proficient with Logic Pro 8, and am an EXTREMELY fast and eager learner.
Please let me know if you'd be willing to let me help you.
Regards,
Dave Ringe 213-709-1515 daveringe@me.com

Studios in Orlando
Hello, fellow Slutz.
I am looking for a recommendation for a ProTools-based studio in Orlando, FL to track basics for an indy metal band with a decent budget. I need a good size live room with standard compliment of gear and ProTools HD. The project will start in February. If the place/price/vibe is right, will consider using it for preproduction as well.
Thanks in advance. Alex.
