Producer/Mixer looking for experienced assistant engineer
I'm a Producer/Mixer based in NYC. I am looking for a reliable, long-term assistant engineer to help with some of the workload. I have my own mix room in Brooklyn, and work at various studios around NYC and elsewhere for tracking. Sometimes mix at other rooms on SSL.
Please read the whole text before responding as my needs are quite specific.
I work about 50% of the time entirely on analog tape; pro tools used only for backups. The other 50% of the time would be using PT as recorder, as if it were a tape machine (ie mix on the desk with automation & outboard). Assistant would need to have some experience with analog consoles and signal flow; and either a working knowledge of analog recording, or the desire to learn.
During tracking, assistant would be needed to help move gear around town; to help setup equipment and mics; calibrate tape machine; change reels of tape; set up PT sessions and i/o; make backups and transfers; take recall notes; change guitar strings; run errands such as going to music store or picking up food etc.
During mix sessions, assistant would be needed to take recall notes; set up basic mixes; set up PT sessions and i/o; patch in outboard gear; calibrate tape machine; set up console automation; print mixes and stems; make transfers and backups.
Credit on albums will be given in all cases as assistant engineer, or assistant mix engineer. In some cases I may ask you to engineer and credit will be given as such.
Pay will be flexible on a per-project basis; my rate for projects varies by the project and budget so I do the same with assistants, although we can agree a minimum, or average pay rate.
You would be hired as an independent contractor; no benefits are offered, and no guarantee of any number of hours per month is given, so you have to be flexible with both hours and pay. Days are typically 10-12 hours, sometimes more.
I am looking for someone on a long term basis on whom I can rely regularly. You must have enough experience to be able to perform all the tasks outlined above. Additional training will be provided by myself, but this is not an entry level position. I am not looking for an intern, but an experienced assistant/ 2nd engineer.
Further information can be discussed in person.
Please respond with resume, some information about yourself, past experience, location, and contact info.

Why am I still getting e-mails?
I would like to re-iterate. This is closed. If you cannot understand that, you need to spend less money on equipment and more on some English lessons. If you send me a message now, I don't care if you're Bob Frikkin Dylan, I will just delete it without reading it. STOP SENDING ME MESSAGES. I DON'T CARE ANYMORE.

For those who can't read (evident from some of the replies):
A pictoral way of saying "P.... off, closed".

I have received loads of mail already and I don't really have time to go through it. So please, before anyone writes, seriously, if you are just a college grad or somebody who makes beats or somebody who is unemployed and wants a hobby as much as a job; don't apply. Having already received nearly 100 applications, I now only want to hear from people who have significant experience and/or credits in modern rock production. I don't want to come across arrogant, but like the title says, this is a serious release from a serious client with a budget and expectations. My rep is on the line, their money is on the line. I have had responses from people who are up to the job, but a lot more from people who aren't. This isn't a 'don't ask don't get' situation anymore. I have plenty of people with a significant amount of experience. If that's not you, please don't send me anything, I just don't have the time. Sorry.
I have been overwhelmed by the amount of attention everybody, and there's really enough to be...

Singers and Rappers required for upcoming releases
Hi There, thanks for viewing.
We are producers based out in London, UK, and have been working in the music scene for a while. We have performed up and down the country as well as abroad, and played on many of the UK's largest radio stations - BBC, Kiss 100 etc.
We have released material in the past which helped promote us.
We are now signed to a brand new label, and going into a new direction of hip hop, funky house, and dub-step music.
What we are offering is a chance for new singers and rappers to come on board with us, collaborate to help put a new album together.
What this means for you is promotion, credited work, a chance to showcase your talent, performances in the UK, and royalties. Everything is done professionally, contracted. We can cover expenses, and pay certain artists if they meet our requirements.
Please send demos to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please clearly label the subject line, that it is a demo. Ideally links, or small attachments.
If we think your good enough, we will send out beats and tracks, and take it from there.

Extremely creative band seeks killer NYC live sound/visual tech director
Hi folks. My band New Beard is fielding candidates for a live sound engineer who works in the NYC area. The band strikes a balance between aggressive psychedelic hard rock like Soundgarden and sensitive exotic indie pop like Beirut.
A few fun tech facts: Our "bass player" is a tuba player playing a beautiful horn through a great bass rig. We have a drumset with acrylic shells that are fully LED lit with DMX controll, and May mics already installed. The lead singer (me) uses a pedalboard full of effects.
All these and many more challenges can be yours
We're looking for someone of any age who is experienced with live sound and can work with house engineers, or engineer from the ground up when necessary, to help us get "our sound" from gig to gig. Our schedule averages out to about 1-2 shows per month in nice venues with good sound systems to good crowds The more you know about effects manipulation and lighting gear the better, as we'd love to have someone who can focus on the creative side of things.
Of course this is a pro request, as we are asking you to captain our technical ship! I've never hired anyone in this capacity, but it's about time to, so consider me open minded.
Please send inquiries to:
I'll get your PMs here, but I may be slower to reply.
