Lot's of good sounds and tones.
The singer has a good voice.
The tune itself is the weakest link here. Both of the verses and choruses could be stronger.Backing vox would help the song a lot.
The drums and bass sound very good and the mix is great.
The song can be tweaked and it can surely be improved upon.
Don't leave the song as is...
Work it...
There is some serious potential here...
It's a great rough idea-demo...It's time to make it sound pro.
Get some outside help with the vocal arrangements.
That file-sharing service reeks!

The recording of the inustruments sound great, the over all mix is at a good starting poing, The bass could use a tad bit more highs mainly for the pop and just a little not a whole lot distortion, just enough to give a slit bite. In writing sounds weird but it does work. The vox sound great, just maybe add some background vox, possible some female, 3to4 part harmony would be nice this would really thicken the mix up, keys could be pulled down alittle mainly on the keys lead with some of the highs pulled down, not the background keys, they are fine sounding.Guitar could come up in the mix, strugglin to hear it. Between .39 and .44 secs, there is a spot where the vox stop and the song losses emotion there for me, maybe try a guitar part there instead of the keys. Just give some diversity of the song, the key part goes throughout the song, sometimes, it is good to change things up.

You definatly have a great mixing starting point and you are well on your way to get a great sound. Excellent job.

Just alittle more advise if you don't mind, with the vox find out what his range is and use it to all of your benefit and as well if any of the band sings take advantage of that as well. Harmony and Range would really spruce up this song and take advantage of the parts where no one is singing and definatly add some fill in as well. I have a post on this site under redbarnproductions and I have put a band there that has some of the similar style of music that I am recording and mixing right now out of my studio, maybe that can help with some of the production of your project. Definatly have the singer come in and try different things, dont be afraid to experiement with something, especially as dumb as it could sound, sometimes it is that, that brings music together. Also some of the lyrics are being forced, maybe try some new lyrics that go alittle smoother with the song, Pronunciation is another key, make sure the words are being pronounced. Another key would be to sing some of the words out instead of dropping them so quick and add just a touch of delay not much with just a bit of more verb and that will help. I think the song, recording, mixing and musicianship sound great, but there are a few things that need alittle help.

I appreciate the input Culture....I can tell you're the kind of person that gives 200% to a project...I'll check out your thread. Thanks again.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of re-recording anything- we did 3 or 4 takes and this was the best one- it's unedited, obviously...I'm not getting paid for this and no one is willing to record again. I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I have. I guess mixing and not recording advice is what would be most appropriate in this case...and I'm listening...

btw- this is not an original tune- just a cover- (don't ask me who), arranged purposely to be short with a beginning and ending and no chorus...

Maybe what you could do if you have the option is, taking the vocals in certain areas of the song and duplicate them and add some pitch changes, offsett for a little delay, that would help. I have done this in the past and it helped my mixes pan out, when I was in the same situation, for a non paying recording you are definatly giving 200%. Maybe experiement with adding some of the beginning vox to the section around .38 through .44 if possible, that might help the mix right there, but only if it is possible. Great job though, it is definatly going to be a great mix..

Nice job on the tones. I would dry i out a bit. The reveb is a bit distracting. Also, I would pull back a few of the bass fills. they just pop outta nowhere.

I also 2nd putting some backing vox in just to enhance what you got going on.
Best part of that is you get to call up some ladies!!!
