What do you think about these acoustic tones?

Hi,

I've been trying catch some good acoustic tones on tape... what do you think about these... the clips are actually the same takes, but differently mixed.

Thanks :)

what's your goal?

sounds like you need to change the strings

try recording them stereo, my ear always gets bored of mono acoustics

Well, the goal was to practise at this point :) It's hard to tell which one is the best since they are out of the context. I posted these to get some feedback and maybe get a clue how good acoustic sound is perceived generally.

There's borrowed quite cheap Takamine EG320S on the left and on the right Music Man Petrucci Piezo.

oh okay, you're doing fine, keep experimenting =]

try experimenting with the room too

if it's not the dead strings making a dull noise, it may be that the room is absorbing too much highs

Yep, those strings were quite dull... since the guitar was borrowed, I just ordered a bit better Takamine with solid top... hopefully that brings the top end out.

On the other hand the song I'm about to record and produce is quite much a "man playing guitar and singing in his own bedroom" -type of song, so much a bit dull tone might work. Got to keep experimenting.
