Is the vocal dry?

This vocal was recorded in a make shift vocal booth. Is the vocal booth working? Am I getting an intimate, close, dry sounding vocal? Tell me what you think about it.
Thanks,
MissE

No posts?

I see that 59 people have viewed this thread, 22 people listened to the vocal, but no posts? Please give me feedback on the vocal booth. Is it working?
Thanks,
MissE

I find it interesting that no one can make a comment as to how my vocal booth is working, but if I make a post about Darkside of the Moon several people make comments. Please, I am here for some help. Let mw know if this vocal booth is working.
Thank you,
MissE

I'm only listening on a laptop, but will listen later.
Sounds very dry to me though, so it seems to be working. Can't say anymore than that on 1" speakers though !

Buy an auto-tune.
She needs it bad.
Yes, the vocal sounds dry and terrible.

Sorry, you asked.

Yeah, it sounds pretty dry to me. Good job on the booth, it seems to be doing its job well!

I'm not sure in what context you mean 'close' or 'intimate', or what you are trying to achieve, but I think you would get better results if she tracked it again using a different approach.

Get her to sing more softly. Make here think that she actually IS singing the line in someones ear. Maybe move her slightly closer to the mic? Add some compression to bring out the breathiness.

THAT in my opinion would sound much closer and more intimate.

I mean she kinda ruins the intimacy bellowing it right in my ear hole like that.

Just an idea anyway!

Actually, no she did not.

...I didn't realize Autotune could be built in to the design of a vocal booth. myself...

Okay, Eyesore.
The booth is working. The booth sounds dry.
My point was, the singer sounds like shit.
He could have used a better vocal example.
But this is also the same guy who thinks that Pink Floyd's DSOTM sounds like it was recorded in his living room.
He can't understand why people like the sound of that record.

There you go...

And neither can I. But this isn't the thread for that, so I won't hijack it any further, but when I read that DSOTM thread(I suppose it has grown since), I was glad to see that she and I are not alone.

This is confusing to me, but another poster said something similar. What are you hearing to make you think she is distant from the mic, if it sounds dry and you aren't hearing the room? Maybe she is actually up on the mic but is still getting some undesirable reflections instead?

Thanks.

Thank you for all the replies. The vocalist was actually very close to the mic.
