awesome....normally not my cup of tea, but sounds cool.
Real clean seperation, IMO the snare could poke out a little more, maybe too much verb on it? But, I very rarely listen to this type of stuff so what do I know.

I like the mix, the drums sound killer, guitars have power also! vocals, for my taste .. sound and fit in the mix, not to loud.

Thumbs up

I think you did a real nice job on this. My only suggestion is to make the snare own a little more real estate, either w/ eq or level or both. It sounds to me like it could be a little bigger. Overall, great job.

i think the snare is fine, however the click you've got on the kick drum makes the entire song feel cheap. having that same kick over and over again for each hit makes the heavier parts seem less heavy. vocals maybe need to come down in the mix a bit?

Wow thanks for the replies.

Re: the kick. Its the orginal kick hit not a sample. BUT... a sample Kick was mixed in with the original.. very very low, just to give the main kick a little more slap and consistency.
The drummer was pretty consistent in his kick hits, I was amazed at this actually.
He had a beautiful kit. Mapex with a wood rimmed snare. Wood beaters...

Re: The Guitar being "phasey" No phase just flange.... lol just kidding.
Well here's the deal with tracking that guitar. The way I mixed it was a concern, but I thought it sounded cool and BIG.
MesaBoogie Tripple Rectifier.
In one Marshall 4x12 Cab I have 3 celetion G12T-75s and one Vintage30.
The Vintage 30 and one G12T-75 are at the top.
I miced the G12T-75 with a Sm57 (in the mix ended up being panned left)
and the Vintage 30 with a BeyerM88. (in the mix ended up panned to the right)

When It came to the mix I flipped the polarity/phase on the the track with the m88.
Kinda cool, left a big whole in the middle for the drums and bass while leaving the GTR pretty big.
BUT.. I did feel it pulling me from one speaker to the other.

Please advise on this as it was one of my main concerns.

thanks everyone!

do you have just one guitar and not double tracked? I was listening with headphones when I felt the phase problem... it might sound big with speakers tough... check mono as well as you might loose your guitar there alltogether with your little trick

I have no suggestion how to properly emulate stereo if you have just one guitar.. waves has spread plugin or something and then there is chorus effects of course. some duplicate the guitar pan the original and duplicated tracks hard left and hard right and delay one track some ms's but I would NOT do this as this results in most horrible comb filtering effect in mono.

Yes. One GTR. Not separately double tracked.

I used to do it the other way. Double the track and move the dupped track in time. well out of time.

Ive also done it the same as mentioned above, but instead of flipping polarity I would just move the other track out of time.

Anyone else have any opinions or experience, or can hear the problem.
Listening in mono does not kill the guitar at all. Granted the mix sound like butt...

Please anyone share more of your thoughts on this.

How about now?

HRCP_FIXED.mp3

I hear what your saying about when the mix is in mono. the GTR does drop in volume drastically.

thanks
