New Project, drop me your thoughts???

Hey all I recently started a project with a good freind of mine and we've come up with a pair of tunes with a few others in the sketching phase, anyway we are looking for opinions both on the tunes themselves and for me on the tones/mixes etc... Love to hear what people have to say, you can check out our tunes at

myspace.com/theprescotts

Thanks in advance for taking the time!!!

1st of all, i dont like this style but you asked for it so...

song 1:
it could be myspace but the drums sound to muddy

i like the off beat trance bass
but the synth patch is wack,
other than that, its quite good

song 2:
drums are a bit better but still needs a slight change
no second verse? you should add a short one
needs an extra layer at the second chorus
just make it a bit more dynamic and it will be cooked and ready to serve
i actually like this song btw
well done

Sorry, I can't really critique it, but I DID want to say I LOVE it. Reminds me of the Flaming Lips a little. Very unique. Do you have a CD?? I'd love to hear this at higher quality than MySpace.

Take care!

Dang, the second song started, and I think I like it even better. You're going on my band's top 8 at myspace. :)

Song 1: I like the drums its just boring as hell..it does nothing nor goes anywhere

Song 2: I like the drums in the beginning but then it twisted up and it sounded cheap and again the tune is a bore. I mean have some strumming or change the rhythm something..It could be eqing or just not finished…laters

Somebody, I won't say who, is a tactless meanie head.

I'm not gonna get into details here, but just wanted to say that I think once you guys work on this stuff awhile longer, it will smooth into a great sound. Some things stand out with good flavor, others a little bland. I agree with the dynamics comment. I'll elaborate intelligently when its not 4am anymore...

Hey, be as harsh as you like doesn't bother me at all, it's all opinion, really glad some of you dig it, These are the first 2 songs we have ever written together and we are both really encouraged by the results but both agree that we've got strong ideas but other weak points to work out. That's what it's all about for us, just writing better and better tunes as we progress, Thanks again all for taking the time, feel free to post more it's all useful in one way or another.
