Punk Rock and Beer

Whats not to like about Punk Rock and beer?
Anyhow... I have this rough mix...

1) Nothing I can do about the cymbal hits. They were a little weak..

Any tips would be helpfull(levels, eq..etc)

thanks..

BTW...
that is self mastered.. So it is crushed... You may here some clipping due to that.. I just bumped it up to try and get it close to my fav cd's. the final version will be mastered properly..

Thanks guys..

Thanks.. That bass boom came from a waves plugin added to the original bass track. That plugin add some compression to let it cut thru, but left it with more of a rounded tone, it does need less boom and more midrange.

I like more of a pluky top end with midrange and smooth bottom.

Any more comments would be appreciated..

pretty cool man... what mic/pre did you use?

i kinda agree about the bass... i don't think it should cut through much more but something about it seems deep in the mix...

I used 2 channels of an API 3124 thru a fatso, Ampeg b25b tube amp and d112 and Senn 421 mic... That Waves Plugin helped bring the bass out more but it really took the growl out of it as well. Back to the drawing board ...

I like the song and the mix.
Love the guitar and vox.
The bass is a tad boomy in spots.

Good old-new punk fun.

Maybe that brewery will adopt your tune as a commercial theme!

Thanks for the listen!

Thank you for the reponse !! Actually, I think they are trying to get sponsored !!... These guys really do live it. My studio was littered with Beer cans. They can put them away.

The Vox was Neumann tlm103 into a Gr mp2nv. Thru a Fatso at a basic setting.

Guitars were double tracked. USed a Little labs Splitter to Mic both amps at once.

Left Side Lespaul into Dual Rectifier (gain on 4). Cab was micd with a Royer 122 into Great river. No compression. No eq

Right Side was a Lespaul into JCM 2000. Cab was Mic'd with Royer 122 into Great River. No Eq or compression.

My tracking room doesnt have good acoustics, so We threw a Blanket over both cabs to stop the slapback coming of walls on the backside of the Royers.

Mics were about 6 inch's off the grills.
