New thing for me... Reggae type band. Recorded these guys over the weekend. They were great to work with and really good on their instruments. A lot different from the usual 17 year olds playing hardcore that I'm used to. :) Anyway. I'll post what I used later. I haven't mixed this other than some compression on the vox and some verb. I just wanted to get some opinions on levels for this type of music. Any suggestions for some stuff to listen to to get a feel for it? I don't know what's going on with the timbale at the beginning and in the middle. I just threw some quick verb on it for now but that's probably not how it will end up. Again suggestions are appreciated. Also there are a couple pops and clicks in the mixdown but it's just a rough quick mixdown so I could post it up so just ignore them. P.S. Mixing with clean guitar instead of seven layers of insanely distorted guitar is sooooooooooo much easier. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=4837 http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/39182_horizonsm1.mp3

They play well, but the tuning is quite bad! I think it's mostly the bass... Other than that, I think that it sounds good. The tuning REALLY ruins it though. To me, that is the main thing keeping it from sounding pro. Perhaps if it is only one offending instrument (the bass), you can retrack that one, but I think one of the guitars is also guilty...

Timing and the goove aren't there. It's not just the tuning. Dynamics in time, need to be applied! The singer is a long way out of key, his pitch isn't there! Overall! And his timing is way out the song's of the timing pocket. This song needs a lot of help. The band does sound fairly decent. Save them...Please! ![]()

Actually, I think the singer is fine. I think it's just that the other instruments being out of tune makes him sound off key.

Well, obviously I don't think everything sounds as bad as everybody else. haha. The singer sounds like he may be off key a bit at some parts. I don't really notice the bass or guitars being out of tune. Must be my golden ears. ;) Haha. And no groove? I think there's groove. I like the song quite a bit actually. So any comments on the mix instead of the song?
