Rough mix

This is totally rough mix with no automation or anything. I burned it before I left the studio tonight. Im planning on adding a little more body to the snare and make it less bright, and the cymbals are too loud right now.

I mainly do really heavy stuff and am having a hard time on this. I want it beefy without too much bottom. The vocals are hard cause he's got a good amount of thickness in his voice that messes with the mix. I think the guitars need a little more low mids as well.

The limiter I put on this is crushing it a little too much. Just wanted to hear it with tons of volume. My ME does a good job of not destroying the mix and getting it pretty loud...

Give me suggestions.. I know the beginning is way cheesy... not my fault..

Yeah, this mix is killing me. I cant get the boxiness out of the vocals without thinning them out too much.

Right now I only have Dverb for reverb and cant get that sounding good on the vox either.

I'm mixing this for some friends late at night. I have my studio rented out during the day, so cant patch in any outboard and dont have any good plug ins.

Thanks for the suggestions.. I totally agree. Tonight will be another long night... Anyone else?

It's a bit too stereo for me. I find the cymbals in the chorus a bit distracting going from one side to another. The voice however seems trapped in the middle. But probably, that's personal taste.
A lot of energy going on, that's cool!

C'Mon, dude...

...DVerb sucks, anyway. I'm a fan of your stuff, you obviously know what you're doing, so scrap the DVerb and mic a room. The rest of it sounds pretty good, especially for a rough.
