| Rock Pop Country Comedy Thing? Hey all. Well, this project has been kicking around on my hard drive for almost 5 years now and it's finally time to call it 'done'! Almost... My friend has a great talent for writing interesting, witty and catchy little tunes. And I have an irresistible urge to go nuts with all my fave gearslutz toys and software.... This recording was kind of inspired, sonically, by Richard Dodd's guest moderating spot here. I tried to steal as many of his Tom Petty tricks as I could... I'd be interested to hear comments about the tunes, the mix, and the overall frequency balance.

| Nuthin, huh? Guess I'd get more comments with the NuMetal version. Anybody at least want to comment on - a) what I could do to nail the Tom Petty vibe better b) what could (or couldn't) mastering do for this track? Thanks.

| Very interesting. It definitely has originality. My only suggestion is maybe a new vocal? It comes off a little "unsure" and hard to understand at times. I wouldn't touch the instrument tracks. Even though it's a little loose here and there... that adds to the charm. Love the background vocals. I like it! Like I always say... I wish you guys were my neighbors! |

| Thanks for the comment(s). Quite surprised that the vocal sounds 'unsure' to you. I'd never considered that before, and my friend is quite a seasoned performer. But I've become so used to this track, I guess I hear it the way I 'expect' to after a while. My friend actually thought his vocal was too out front on many of these tunes, but after listening to lots of singer/songwriter type pop I realized that front and center was where the vocal belonged, as much as possible. As for the 'loose/mess', that's mostly down to my trying to play almost everything myself, and sing most of the backing vox. "Loose is as tight as I get". Glad you're on the "it's charming" side of the fence. I may post a second tune from this project up here to give people a better idea of the overall 'sound'. We moved around quite alot, stylistically speaking...
