Girl rock/pop

So what do you think of the song, wrote it yesterday and it came out pretty good for a quickie.
I know its distorted and way too compressed but im more interested in what you think of the song.
If you wanna make comments on the mix Im not gonna shoot you but dont tell me its too compressed, i know, its a quick mix.
Cheers guys

Spot on!

I like it a lot.

Great energy, especially the Chorus.

Some nice playing too.

Good job Lindsay.

Hi,

excellent song! well done. some thoguhts fwiw:
i like the intro, nice build.
i would love to hear some kind of short synth hook at 1:20 at the end of the choris outro just before verse 2
Im not too mad on the drumming in the break after chorus 2 - personally i thinks it a bit too much and a bit too repetetive
i really like the break at 2:53, nice vocal fx too, nice filter effect at 3:15 (i think its the gtr but mixes really well with the vocal!)

I like your voice and would listen to more.

Simon.

Sometimes it just happens

Despite what they tell you, don't change a thing! The feel is there and so is the talent. Keep the formula!

Sounds good for just being written. Now it just needs a little more production, a proper recording and proper mix....

As a song, I think Disney would love something like this. It's right up their alley..

Spot on for the formula approach... good vocals.

Aren't the lyrics in the chorus a little reminiscent of the Adam's Family Song...

I really dig this tune. Very H. Duff, L. Lohan, good formula. Yes, also very Disney. Other than fine tuning the mix, I would had a much more effective (punch/arrangement) going into the choruses. Listen to K. Clarksons mix of "Since You'e Been Gone" leading into the chorus... It drives you right in... Secondly, I personally would gate the snare a tad, not making it so "ringgy"...

My 2 cents but I wish you luck... overall, good track...

great song!!

for the recording, I would experiment with room size and mic distance, so that it gets a little resonance in the lower mids where the young voice is not so strong yet,
currently it is a bit sharp. perhaps there is a kitchen or office next door that is worth a try also.

Well, it was pretty straight forward really.
Drums=BFD played by me on keyboard, quantised in Cubase
Bass= played by me on a Fender precision special DI and also amped through Fender hot rod deluxe then DBX TL AUDIO pre then DBX compressor
Guitars= Telecaster and Maton Mastersound through POD into tonebone classic then into Fender hot rod deluxe. Mics 57 and AKG solidtube in XY right on the cone into a TL AUDIO C1.
Vox= AKG solidtube into TL AUDIO C1 pre/comp then DBX comp

Mixed quickly ITB in Soundcaspe 32 (the best DAW there is).www.sydec.be
And slammed through T-Racks, hence the distortion:-)

This is pretty much how I record all my quick demos and if they come out good then i will re-record and re-mix what i have to re-do which is sometimes not much, but definately a re-mix I think and some guitars.
