Newbie Posting a song for review New member, but long time reader here at GS. I just tracked drums to a song for a close friend of mine for a project. Wanted a critique (especially on the drums). Thanks for your input.

very nice..... only the reverb on the snare sounds kind of fake....maybe remove some..... the kick blends really nicely

Thanks for the insight I Q, I appreciate your input. I will back off the verb a bit for the snare and see how that does. I am using my TC Electronic Reverb 4000 on it. Just got it recently, so trying to get a feel for it. Different than the Lexicon PCM91 I had before. Got the TC so I could stay at 96k through and through. The Lex wouldn't do 96k through the S/Pdif.

Sounds good so far. If you mic'd the drum room, I would think about bringing up those faders just a bit. A good short stereo delay and reverb can also put the drums in a good space. The snare could come down just a touch and/or maybe a hair faster attack on the sn. comp. It seems like things get softer during the chorus. Try bringing up the gtr. tracks for each chorus. I think it's cool where they're at during the bridge. It adds an in between dynamic level. With the guitars a bit louder in the chorus section it will make each dynamic transition a bit more exciting. Good luck! - Ben

Thanks VP. I appreciate the comments. Didn't work too hard on this at all. Was a quckie for a friend. Just wanted some ideas for the drum basics. I did not mike the room in this one, but almost always do otherwise. It was a quick and dirty one. I hear what you say about the dynamics. And the snare comp attack is a greats observation. By the way, I dig your studio setup and your tunes.
