| re working old hiphop mixes, need help yo guys, I've been practicing mixing a lot lately and decided to go back to some old songs of ours and try mixing them over again. My main focus at the moment is getting the vocals to be more upfront, without sounding like they're "loud" if you know what i mean. while i think that these mixes are much improved over my old mixes, the vocals still aren't quite as upfront and clear as I need them to be. They kinda dip and peak and aren't even. I know this is a compression issue. One thing I noticed is that the UAD 1176 just does not work on my voice. It just ends up overly bright. The LA2A on the other hand doesn't do that. I'm looking for that "hug" on the vocals that I hear in other peoples mixes. That stability. Take a listen and give me some pointers if you've got them. |
