| Early 50's L.A. Guitar Bop This is a production music cut I did a few years back. I did about 375 of these in eight years from 1992 until 2000. This is a cut I wrote/played/recorded/produced/mixed... yeah, yeah... This cut is derivitive of Jimmy Bryant stuff from the early to mid '50s in L.A. The middle section melody is a bit similar to Raymond Scott. Writing so many of these in so many styles meant that I had to listen to a lot of music to get ideas. This fun stuff to play! The sax is Ron Jones and the drums are Dan Wojchieowski. Everything else (GTRs/KYBD/bass) is me. It was recorded through a Sphere Eclipse via a DigiDesign Session 8 into Studio Vision Pro and remixed through the Sphere. I used a pair of UREI 1176s, a dBx165 and a Lexicon 224x for processing. This was also done on EIGHT tracks! Two tracks of drums! Excuse the Kurzweil K2000r piano patch. It gets a bit cheesy in the top end and the volume scaling is a bit loud on the top end. Enjoy! | took me back to Bill Haley and the Comets. I saw the original "Rock around the Clock" when I was about nine. I knew there was a major change coming. Chuck |

| I fell in love with Jimmy Bryant stuff when I first head it about ten years ago. As a guitar player since I was able to pick one up, his music presented a HUGE challenge. This is like his easy stuff. I'm working on some more "blazing" tunes that he did and I'll post one soon. Jimmy Bryant was the original Tele player. He was in both Roy Roger's band and Tennesse Ernie Ford's band and played on most of the L.A. Capitol Records C&W stuff in the '50s. Some of his stuff is light years ahead of it's time and there are still VERY few cats that can play some of his stuff. For a rock/blues/jazzrock sidetracked player from Texas like me this is cool stuff to play. I have played guitar for about 40 yeras and Jimmy's stuff is still a challenge to pull off! This is rock BEFORE rock! Hayseed jazz? Deke Dikerson does a good job at this stuff, too. It is the foundation of what hot Nashville pickers like Brent Mason and Vince Gill play today. This song is more bebop influenced though. Western swingin' beebop? Danny Brown |
